I was never all that high on him....he is however the best LB available in a weak LB draft this year.

I haven't watched it the entire time, so I haven't seen the pattern for who is going to pick for the Chiefs, but it's suicide time if they have us taking a D lineman.

It'll probably be Kiper saying we're taking Ware.

So you few would not want us to draft him if we can? After watching the highlight video on that other thread, I don't want Derrick Johnson. The guy is a gifted athlete with poor football fundamentals. On a team that is cursed with horrible tackling, the last thing we need is a hotshot that can't tackle. I'd much rather have one of the CBs. All three of the CBs we're looking at have outstanding fundamentals.

I have question. If Fabian Washington had "4.23 speed" or whatever in college how come he wasn't more dominant there? He had that speed at Nebraska and was good, worthy of a third round pick. He runs fast in a straight line three months later and is all of sudden, a first rounder. I think its frickin ridiculous that a player can shoot up so far on the charts due to something that didn't even happen on the football field.

The same could have been said about Dwight Freeney or Jevon Kearse when the 3-4 wasn't as popular. The 3-4 has become more and more popular and these speedy, athletic, pass rushing "tweeners" have been the target for OLB in the 3-4 system. But I think players like Ware and Merriman could be just as successful as 4-3 ends.

Remember he isn't who I want. I want DJ, Rogers, or Rolle. But if those guys are gone Ware wouldn't be bad. We need a pass rush. That would help out our secondary if we had a pass rush. Ware, Allen, and Hall would be nice.

Vikes take Pacman with Smoot and Winfield already on thier roster? Regardless of what they do Saturday/Sunday, Minnesota is one the most improved teams in the NFL. Decrepit old Favre would have one Hell of a time against the Vikes if he had to throw on Winfield, Smoot, and Pacman.

I don't know of too many players in this years draft.

2. Channing Crowder, Florida (6-2, 242)
Crowder did not work out at the combine, but did work out at his Pro Day on March 9. He was 242 pounds, down 10 pounds from the combine. He ran his 40s in 4.80 and 4.81. He had a 35-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot broad jump, a 4.29 short shuttle, an 11.25 long shuttle, a 6.57 three-cone drill and 27 strength reps. He played outside linebacker and running back in high school, and when the time came to enroll in school, he picked Florida but delayed enrollment until January 2003 due to knee rehab. He did practice with the team before the 2003 Outback Bowl. He started nine games in 2003, then started seven games in 2004 he missed two because of injury and one because of suspension. He was first-team All-SEC in 2004. His father, Randy, played in the NFL for six years. Crowder is a tough player who can play middle or outside linebacker. He's also a real leader on the field and does a good job on blitzes and can cover in pass defense. He reminds you of Ray Lewis on the field. His knees are a question mark and he has had off-field troubles, but he's a guy who can become a Pro Bowl-caliber player.

Seriously, anybody who just said they like Ware.....WHY? Please tell me why he would be a good fit for our 4-3 defense. Where would he play?

I still haven't heard an explanation from anybody.

Dwight Freeney is a legit 4-3 DE, imo. I think Ware's strength (430 lb bench press) and his Dwight Freeney type of explosive quickness makes him a legit 4-3 DE. If he added 20 lbs of useless fat, I don't think he would be a better 4-3 DE. I don't think players get nominated for the Hendricks trophy, given to the top college DE, based on their combine workout. Having an explosive edge rusher opposite Allen will mean fewer double team blocks on the DTs and wider gaps for blitzing LBs to shoot through.
