The Bad Guy

Well, I returned home from NYC last night, and it was a great time.
I arrived at the draft around 10:30, sat next to some wonderful people (one of which was a 13-year old Saints fan who looked exactly like the kid from Bad Santa and his mom. Great people..kid was crushed that the Saints didn't trade up for DJ) and I received MANY heckles about the Chiefs D.
The 2 most annoying fans at the draft are the Cowboys and Jets fans. These two team's fans walk around the draft like they own the place and their teams are like the Patriots. I don't into several arguments with them and during each one, I asked myself, "why are you arguing with these retards?"
I was literally 10 feet away from the ESPN set. Berman is extremely personable during breaks, Mortensen never looked at the crowd, Torry Holt is one of the most feminime men I have ever seen and Mel Kiper looks like Mr. Gameshow in person. On day 2, Golic interacted with the fans all the time, Kolber couldn't be bothered. She is a real bitch.
When the Vikings selected Williamson, I for sure thought that the Redskins would take Williams, when they didn't, I thought DJ would possibly fall, but never thought it would be to 15.
There were about 4 Chiefs fans in the draft room. They were chanting Derrick Johnson for the full 15 minutes the Chiefs were on the clock, then some people started chanting Derek Jeter over those people. Pretty funny.
When DJ was picked, I didn't say much, just jumped around a little bit and sat back down because I felt bad for the kid next to me because he really wanted DJ and was near tears after the Saints took an Olineman (I felt bad because his mom just told me his dad passed away and things have been difficult on him). Normally, I wouldn't care because I'm an asshole.
I was interviewed by USA Today for some story they are doing about the fans thoughts on their teams draft picks. I don't know if it's going to be in USA Today Sports Weekly or the daily pub.
But if you plan on going to the draft, bring something to help pass the time. It's a LONG day and you can get bored very easilly. It's a great time for the first round, but after that it gets boring REAL fast.
I sat next to Roy Firestone in the fan area. Real nice guy.
Back at my hotel, I shared an elevator and a conversation with Francisco Cordero, closer for the Rangers. The team was staying at the hotel I was at.
I even stayed for all of Day 2 so I could get tickets for next year sent to me without having to wait in the line the morning of the draft. Sitting through 7 hours of those picks greatly tests your patience.
All in all, it was a GREAT time and the perfect weekend if you're a Chiefs fan. For the first time since 1997, I'm happy with the Chiefs draft.
