Sherm Lewis is my choice. I expect either Jim Mora if fired or Vermiel.

Mike Ditka or Dom Capers.

Like it or not, Gun will be back. Let's hope he "cans" at least two of the stooges.

g_man, I guess I'm confused. What team is currently looking for a head coach?

Baby Lee
12-24-2000, 07:20 PM
Butch Davis. Or Bob Stoops.

KCCory

Butch Davis is staying in Miami.
Bob Stoops is staying in Oklahoma.

My choice would be Norv Turner for OC.
Baby Lee

Offer them an NFL coaching job, and both would leave.

Wouldn't mind Turner.

If your a CHIEF fan, you had better hope YOUR team is looking for a coach.

I think my team has the best HC in the NFL. I wouldn't trade Gun for anyone in the world. As soon as he gets some better assistant coaches, he is going to make you guys eat your words!

Are you really Packfan in drag? Only he could say something so serious and make me laugh out loud.

Guys,

Does anybody know update about Bill Cowher situation in Pitt? Is he staying or is he on a bubble.

are you kidding?

Mi, this guy's act consists of telling anyone that complains about the team that they should sell their season tickets. That's the substance of 90 percent of his posts over the past season.

Some of these choices crack me up big time!

You guys have to remember that Peterson signed a 5 year contract extension just about a week ago.

First, he will make the decision on whether or not he'll fire Gunther at all, and if he does fire Gunther, he is going to hire a yes man to replace him. I doubt that most of the choices you guys have given would work under Peterson. I know Bob Stoops wouldn't. He wouldn't want the headaches.

If I were going to choose though, I'd agree with an earlier post and take Marvin Lewis the DC with the Ravens.

Eventhough it would be an utter nightmare, I'd laugh my *** off if Peterson hired Kurt Schottenheimer as head coach!

I'm leaning to either Cowher or the HC of Stanford.

Cowher has a brilliant defensive mind and the Stanford HC seems equally atute offensivly.

Good point Brock.

I wouldn't mind seeing Shell coach here.

Norv Turner
Steve Spurrier
Bill Parcells
Mike McCarthy

McCarthy has learned a lot since he left the Chiefs and is highly regarded. The Chiefs need some new, fresh, young blood. Like I have been saying for two years, the days of yelling, crying, kicking, hugging, and screaming to motivate players is over with. Its been over with for about five years. Somebody needs to inform Carl Peterson. It takes the ability to train, motivate, and develop. It also takes scheme, strategy, and being able to handle pressure. The Chiefs still cant figure out how to manage the two minute drill. Unbelievable!

Norv Turner?! The all knowing, all seeing, almighty Packfan thinks that Norv Turner should be considered a HC candidate?
What did Norv Turner do in Washington, other than coach that team through several mediocre seasons?

Funny that he lists the coach that Snyder fired first, and follows it up with the 2 coaches Snyder publicly covets...

Methinks the "all-knowing one" gets his "knowledge" from reading SI and watching NFL2Nite.

Hail to the fuzzy round things with feet!

I still don't understand where this perception comes from, since the guy has worked with Mora, Vermiel and Schottenheimer, none of which were yes men...

DaWolf:

He hired those guys before he had lots of power. He needed them to get where he is today. When Marty left, who did Carl interview? Who did he choose? That's why some of us feel he would only hire a "yes man" now.

Not that I'm a huge fan of Carl, but I can add some light to his decision to hire Gun. 1) Marty left in a year where 5 other HCs got the axe and Marty was the last to announce his vacancy - it was a little late to get the cream of the crop. 2) Carl probably felt we were pretty close to putting all the pieces together. We had just been 13-3 the year before and Gun was a player favorite and had coached some very good defenses. 3) Gun did a good job of talking the talk. I remember listening to his early press conferences and his talk of opening up the offense, re-instilling discipline and respect for the game, and playing to attack all sounded great at the time. Unfortunately he has lost his air of confidence and instead resembles a schizo, insecure lunatic who can't build a gameplan. At the time it was about the best we or Carl could do.

If by some miracle Cowher became available, he would be my 1st choice. Norv Turner would make a good OC but I wouldn't want him as the coach. I wouldn't mind having Schottenheimer back as long as his brother gets the boot.

Parcells-Retired and never coaching again
Spurrier-Will never leave the state of Florida
Turner-?

1 out of 4 was actually pretty good for you, Packfan.

Cannibal,
You don't think Stoopes would like the Chiefs job? I think he would be very interested, because 1) It's the show
2) He wouldn't have to re-locate across the country
3) It would be a decent payrai$e.

I'm not sure about Butch Davis, though. I just like what he's done.

This thread is moot! I hate to say it, but Gun isn't going anywhere for at least one more year. Add Raye to that also. I think Stock and Spurt are gone though.

OK..I'm asking for this,I wouldn't mine see'n.....

HC ....... Marv Levy or Al Saunders
OC ....... Al Saunders or Norv Turner
DC ....... E. Thomas
ST ....... Ganz,as in Fank Sr.(was a good one)

As for all the others, let the HC choose them. Now for some of you,you probally think I have fallen off the deep end ? Maybe,IMHO these guys do get the best out of what talent the players have! Marv has always been a favorite of mine, even thou he didn't win the big one, always a class act as coach.

OK....your turn to let me have it ! Lay it on me ! :D
