For like 20 seconds it hangs while it starts a download.

Actually, do the routine things first. Uninstall, reinstall. Uninstall any extensions that may be causing a problem.

Ah, I got it fixed. I had ten billion things in the download archive...it has to index all that shit everytime it starts.
