I can't imagine a less desireable position than a High school coach in today's society. I hope the joy the kids bring you outweighs the anguish the parents will bring.

My thoughts exactly...

It's the only thing thats kept me from coaching my girls in soccer and baseball. I see the crap the ones that do it now take from other parents and know doing it will most likely just mean a change in high blood pressure medication. :shake:

I love teaching and coaching kids so no parent is going to bring me down. Bottom line is if they are that much of a pain in the butt I tell them take their kid and go somewhere else!

I can truly say I have found my true calling in life.

It is Corcoran High School in Corcoran Cali and it has about 850 kids. I am excited and ready to get after it. By the way Corcoran is the home of the prison that houses Charles Manson.

At my high school there was some drama about my high school football coach boning a cheerleader in the whirlpool in the boys locker room.

The drama was that the cheerleader was the coach's sons girlfriend.

I guess he couldn't do it right, so the coach had to step in.

Don't tell the Manson kid to cut anyone's legs out from under them, the results could be very messy.:)

Rumors of history say those that can play, play and those that can't play coach. Tell me later if that is true.:harumph:

Congratulations on getting the job you wanted, hang in there just in case the first year or two are tough. Learn from the mistakes you make and don't repeat them.

The deal with parents, if their kid is fair to good and they have a higher opinion of them that is normal. When they start telling you what to do tell them to take a hike, if they don't like your solution to the situation continue with your gut reaction to tell them to take their kid and walk.:harumph:

Congrats, and nice work! (Unless of course your team had previously been riding a 100-game winning streak before you became the coach, in which case you're in big trouble.)

If you really want to build a reputation, hang yourself by flesh hooks in the locker room before a big game like the old Indians did, just to show how tough you are.

Congrats. I coached B-ball for five years. Would love to coach at the high school level. Run and Gun, full court pressure, smothering zone d, switched up to man to man. I got the best out of my teams, and it started with the basics. I watch kids I coached three and four years ago and they are just a step above. You ever need an asst. that will work for free-let me know.
