Italian police have discovered a mob-linked race track where they say horses were pumped full of Viagra and other drugs to fix races.

The illegally built and operated track, known locally as "Miss Charmet", is located on the outskirts of Naples city -- home to the Camorra, the local version of the Sicilian Mafia.

"We are able to ascertain the use of the famous [drug] Viagra to increase the performance of these horses," police commander Mario Pantano told local television.

It was not clear how Viagra affected the horses' speed.

The track and its horses, worth an estimated $6.4 million, were seized by authorities investigating illegal doping of horses, according to local media.

wouldn't it be obvious which horses were on viagra???

I thought they would have been plow horse being on Viagra like they were. It was a good thing it wasn't steeplechase horses, may never have been able to clear anything they jumped. :)

What a crock. I guess horse racing is only legitimate if the right people are making the money. I wanna seize 6.4 mill. Where do I sign up for that?

Ah man, that's too bad, I hope the horses aren't taking it too hard.
