<A name=229653>Chiefs | Holmes wants 30 Touchdowns - from www.KFFL.com (http://www.KFFL.com)
Fri, 20 May 2005 06:30:31 -0700The Kansas City Star (http://www.kffl.com/link/142) reports Kansas City Chiefs (http://www.kffl.com/team/21/nfl) RB Priest Holmes (http://www.kffl.com/player/993/nfl) is fired up about the 2005 season. For a moment Thursday, May 19 it sounded like Holmes was hinting about his future retirement, when he saw backup RB Larry Johnson (http://www.kffl.com/player/5896/nfl). "He's definitely going to be the new face for the Kansas City Chiefs (http://www.kffl.com/team/21/nfl)," Holmes said. "And I'm excited to be here and to be able to leave that legacy behind and give him the torch." Johnson said things are real cool between him and Holmes. Holmes said he won't be the type of player who hangs around when his skills fade. When asked Thursday what Priest can do for him in 2005, head coach Dick Vermeil (http://www.kffl.com/player/7810/nfl) jokingly rattled off 2,100 yards and 29 touchdowns. Holmes doesn't think it's so funny. He has a deal with Chiefs (http://www.kffl.com/team/21/nfl) trainer Keith Abrams. They want 30 touchdowns this year.

Wile_E_Coyote, I would appreciate it if you would pull that picture. First off, the planet has a policy about pics posted. Secondly, that is enough to get some people who post from work in some serious trouble.

Id rather Priest worry about playing 16 games, and winning 3 Playoff games this year than 30 TD's.

Priest is a team player. If he wants to go for some personnel records to go to HOF in Canton great.

Let's just win.

So should Priest be saying he is going to get 120 tackles, five sacks, and three INTs? Priest getting a ton of touchdowns means two things. First it means that our offense is still playing at a high level. Second it means that he stays healthy. I think both of those things are pretty important if we are planning to make noise this season. It is not like he can go out there and play MLB too.

How about setting a goal of winning a playoff game?

He can't win a playoff game by himself. That would be a team goal. In order to help the team get to a playoff game and win, each individual on the team needs to meet their own personal goals. If he wasn't setting personal goals then I'd be worried.

Damn fellas you ought to be extactic,he could be talking about a hold-out or the millions he hopes to make on Team Priest Wear this year.Like mentioned above,I'd be a little concerned if there weren't personal goals being set.

Who cares?

If personal records motivates Priest to play another year instead of retiring, I say go for it. He has to be playing to his absolute best in order to get them, and if he does get them, that means the offense is kicking ass. If the offense is kicking ass, the Chiefs have a great chance to win games.

Id be worried if he didnt care what his statistics looked like.

He needs to bet Keith Abrams that he can play in 16+ games. I think playing 16 games is inherently implied in the bet for 30 TDs. He's not betting that he'll get 30 TDs in 11 games or something like that.
