Rich Scanlon, as part of a German genetic experiment, has been impregnating thousands of Berlin females. People are concerned that the Germans are once again trying to create a Superman, and with the Scanlon seed, they may very well accomplish this. However, Rich has sworn that any progeny of his will only use their powers for good.

Rich Scanlon reminds me of a LBer that played here a few year ago for the chiefs, Mike Maslowski.

That was just said by the commentator.

scanlon just showed a "little" quickness by making the tackle on a screen pass.

Only read the first bolded section, so that's all I got. Also, remember I am the husband of a writer, not a writer myself (published twice, but only after a horrendous editing effort by others). So in other words, if I see 'em, I would hope the other readers would as well, otherwise our language is in serious trouble.

The Chiefs design <for> this off-season was to upgrade the linebacker position.

The word "design," can be argued as to whether it is technically correct or not on grounds of proper English, but you do not design a linebacker. A better word would have been "goal." If the actual intentions of the word design were associated with off-season (and not linebacker) then the <for> inserted above would be required.

They made a splash in free agency <, (or) by> signing Kendrell Bell and then drafting Texas standout Derrick Johnson in the first round.

In order to join these to sections of the sentence, you must have a compound to have the two independent clauses become one (correct) sentence.

Those were great additions to say the least. But one Chiefs player developing his game in NFL Europe, Rich Scanlon has started to make a name for himself on the other side of the pond.

First off, this "whacked out" in several ways. If the sentence begins with a "but," it should be a part of the previous sentence. Also, when clarifying a statement, such as by stating Rich Scanlon, who is the alluded to Chiefs player, you need commas around the clarification. When naming the subject of your sentenence, you must do this to correctly identify the relationship between the subject and the proper noun.

If you want further review into the article, I charge by the word!

Now, feel free to find fault in my grammar and spelling as well, but remember I don't earn money posting here. ;)

I'm essentially Jethro Bodine, so I don't even pretend to know anything about this kind of stuff.
But I do have some questions.

Isn't "design" in this particular instance a substitute for the word "plan"?

In order to join these to sections of the sentence, you must have a compound to have the two independent clauses become one (correct) sentence.[

If he had written "They made a splash in FA by signing Bell, and another splash in the draft with the selection of DJ", would that have been a correct way of stating the thoughts he was trying to present?

Those were great additions to say the least. But one Chiefs player developing his game in NFL Europe, Rich Scanlon has started to make a name for himself on the other side of the pond.

I watched the 1st quarter, and most of the 2nd quarter. I thought Scanlon did a nice job while I was watching, as the tackle stats he had for that near 1st half that I saw were about his final game totals. Did he get hurt or something? Or did he just not do anything in the 2nd half?

On a side note, I still think Dave Ragone might be an excellent QBOTF candidate. He is sitting behind Carr in Houston, and is about the same age as Carr. Not much future there, and he looks like a pretty fair QB in the making.

A combination of things, Berlin had a couple of time consuming drives and Hamburg fell behind and started to pass more , mostly away to the outside recievers.

All in all, he looked OK. The experence will help him and it will make the coaches pay attention to him this year.

I sort of watched the game while I was baby sitting our son yesterday. I thought Rich looked pretty good. The thing I was probably most impressed about was that even if he wasn't in on the tackle, his number was on the screen. It seemed like anywhere a defensive play was made, 57 was close by. I saw him, several times, hustle from behind to catch up with the runner/receiver and be nearby for the stop. Seems like he has a good motor at the least.

Did see him whiff one tackle pretty badly, though. Also saw him light up the QB a couple of times.

A combination of things, Berlin had a couple of time consuming drives and Hamburg fell behind and started to pass more , mostly away to the outside recievers.

All in all, he looked OK. The experence will help him and it will make the coaches pay attention to him this year.

Makes sense. I think he has a chance. At times he looked pretty darn good. At other times he looked like a Chiefs LB of the past few years. Looked promising though.

His angle approach was pretty much good, his tackling was good. At times his lateral movement seemed a bit slow. He is quick to get back in pass coverage, and of course, he has a nose for that ball. You can always find him within range of the ball if he isn't involved with the tackle.

Pretty much what I saw.

FWIW, we get to watch him the next 3 weeks on TV.

Doesn't that prove that he might not be fast enough for the NFL game?

No, he has good speed. I would wager a bet that it's more of him not being sure where he wants to go or who to follow when reading certain plays.

I said at times, other times he is quick.

The kid can play and play well. TC will be interesting to say the least.

He seriously drilled Dimwitted right before halftime. Bob Dole hit the instant replay button about 8 times.

Is that the one where you could hear him on the field mic say, "Whose supposed to get the mike backer?"

Oh no you didn't. ROFL Shocking ,hey.

After that hit, then Dimwiddie got spooky of him the 2nd half, calling out his name to block.

"hey, who's got the mike linebacker?" ROFL

Probably. He drilled him in the torso full speed just as he released the pss that was about 15 yards off target down and out to the right.

Not really. If you hadn't been so busy looking up final games stats, you probably would have seen the same comment in the game thread. :p

Yeah. That was the one. BTW, those on the field mics are dangerous. After one play I heard some guy say:

"**** that mother****er."

He said it in a heavy, gutteral african-american accent while speaking around a mouthguard, so it was hard to understand. Definitely intelligible, though.

Dude, when it's your kid, your not babysitting... you're "spending quality time with your child, as any loving, devoted father would do". ROFL

Oh. Right.

He actually took the bottle from me yesterday without too much of a fuss, so I was happy. All the designer's for my wife's company flew into town this week and they're going to be going to the spa, going out to dinner, and basically having social time over the next few days. I'm going to get to spend a lot of "quality time" with my boy. ;)
