Well if you don't count Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, Pat Boone and the La Bamba guy. We had a jukebox at the swimming pool in 1955. I'd love to see what the selections were. Two I can think of are Chantilly Lace by the Big Bopper and Love Letters in the Sand by Pat Boone.

Upon further review, Jerry Lee Lewis, Marty Robbins, Perry Como, Patti Page, Chuck Berry, Doris Day, Ernie Ford and Jimmie Rodgers. I'm sure there are a ton more but I agree, none of them were Elvis.

There wasn't any rock 'n roll before Elvis. Anything resembling it (Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis) was called Nigra music. But Elvis took care of that.

Yeah, he had all the young girls wetting their panties with his gyrations but he SUCKED early on. What changed my mind was Love me Tender. (Actually a ripoff of a pre Civil War song called Laura Lee). Then I could see what a beautiful voice the guy had. He still did a bunch of shit songs after that but the good far outweighed the bad. Tom Parker didn't help him any except to steal half his income, the bastage.

I’ll Be There - The Jackson 5
Heh. I was just talking to my brother about them the other day.
Right afeter Thriller was released the Jacko 5 tried to market off of Michael. I remember a big poster that Burger king was giving away with kid's meals at the time.
The poster was ****ing freaky. One of those posters where no matter where you were standing MJ always seemed to be looking at you. With that nasy (mah' dirty hand) glove, and creepy smile...
We both complained until our parents took that POS poster out of our room. We both thought that MJ was creepy and had dreams of him trying to "get us."
Oh, the irony in that one...
Ohhhh, I can't remember the name of it. It was a duet with Elton John and some woman (my mind is drawing blanks). November 1976. Anyone know what duet he did?

Of course, I'm guestimating on the exact date (and really don't have the stomach to ask Mom and Dad if they remember when), but I got a doozy:
I’m Henry VIII, I Am - The Herman’s Hermits
Footnote: I think I read once that the Puritans (or some early fundamentalist sect) believed that you were born exactly nine months to the day you were conceived. So if a baby was born on Sunday, they assumed it was conceived on a Sunday -- which was no-no for them; you weren't supposed to be getting your freak on on the sabbath.
