I recently bought an iPOD on Ebay through a guy who had recieved nothing but positive feedback. Over 72 feeback items left in the past 12 months. The only somewhat bad feedback was recently saying that he was slow....and the feeback was neutral not negative. The auction was a multiple item auction and neither one of us recieved the iPOD. The guy actually responded to me 3 days after the auction ended saying that he would be in touch with a tracking # in the next few days. IT'S BEEN TWO WEEKS!! I actually have the mofo's email address and went to the Missouri University website and got the guys full name. The f'er is a Junior Art student at UMC. I sent the guy like 10 messages but have gotten no response. The chit head actually purchased another item through Ebay during this time.....he even gave another individual feedback but he won't respond to me or the other buyer.

I did used Paypal so is the best plan of action to file a report through PayPal?

I got ripped on some Chiefs @ Packers tickets two years ago. The guy apparently had a duffel bag full of all his tickets stolen, and he had a ton of people that he owed tickets to.

I contacted his local police department by phone, and the FBI via their internet fraud website.

Eventually, I got my money back. A check arrived, written by some law office. Not sure how it panned out for him, I'm just glad I got my cash.

I ordered a PS2 froma guy with all positive feedback at what I thought was a steal of a deal about 3 years ago. I paid the guy and didn't hear anything from him. Was on Yahoo's auction site. Anyhow... I checked the guys feedback and noticed that others were beginning to get ripped off. I gathered a list of email addresses and carbon copied everyone on the emails I'd send him. I even researched on the INet and found the FBI's website and emailed the others as well as him and notified him that teh FBI was involved.

The little shit had lied and said that he listed it for his friend but his friend didn't want to sell at that low of a price. To make matters worse the lil shit cashed the check (or Money Order) I sent him.

He eventually got scared of all the people he'd ripped off filing complaints on the FBI website and sent me my $. Once I received my $... I notified the others that I'd received the money with him carbon copied within the email.

I never followed up with the results of the others.

Almost. I bought a Montana jersey from a guy a few years ago. I thought he was trying to rip me off because it had been 2 weeks and it never arrived. I had his name and address and told him if my shit didn't arrive soon I was going to come to his house and claim it. He lived in Illinois and I was taking a trip to Missouri soon and it would not have been out of my way to stop by his house. I finally got the stuff.

Now I freak out when shit doesn't get here when it's supposed to and I fly off the handle at whomever I bought it from. ROFL

File a report with paypal and Ebay. I had a similar situation about 3 months ago with some golf shoes. Paypal will take money out of the seller's account or bill their credit card for your loss. I think you have to wait 14 days after the auction close and then another 14 for Paypal to try to contact the seller before they credit you. Try to get the jackass' phone # and call him. Filing is a hassle so if you can resolve it yourself...do so.

I have the worst luck with e-bay. So much so that I dont even bother with them anymore.

It doesnt seem to matter what I do, or how good the feedback for the seller is, I always, ALWAYS lose my money. I didnt learn after the third time it happened, but the fourth one finally got through my head to just go to Amazon.com or someplace like that to find what Im looking for, and order it from a respectable business, and not some f'ing thief.

I filed the proper complaints and everything, but I never got a cent back of the money that I lost.

Nope never been scammed yet, but this is why I always use only CC for things like this. Paypal can be a pain I've heard and make you wait X time before refunding your money. If you use a credit card(even through pay pal) all you have to do is call up your credit card and report that you did not receive the item and appear to be a victim of fraud. Generally the charge will be reversed within hours. Then it's pay pal's problem if you charged through them. Don't use money Order or even paypal(non CC) with people you don't know. If you have to go that route use escrow.

I usually get the money back option when paying by paypal for large purchases.

Or I use a postal money order.because once they cash it and Dont send you your item it becomes mail fraud and you can file through the postal service.

How did he plan to send it?if he was going to use us mail you can still file mail fruad. At least threaten him with it.Its worked for me.I would file with ebay and paypal.Ebay will refund anything over 25.00.Then email him or call if you can get his # through ebay.Tell him youre gonna file on the FBI website(like mentioned above)and file a mail fraud claim.

Also try and send him your warning through a question for seller email on ebay if he has other items listed. If hes avoiding you he might just delete your email. The question from seller has a generic header title. He wont know its from you until he opens it.

I did use my credit card through PayPal......I should probably just report the item through my credit card company like you said and make PayPal deal with it.

Yahoo auction's is also filled with con artists. Don't buy any Sony Vaio's or Plasmas for $500 or $1000 bucks.

Use credit card, paypal or check if you have to buy something. Don't use any money orders or other insecure money.

Don't trust the auctions.

EBAY should be ****ing sued. What a fuc***ing joke of a website. They don't do anything to protect people.

How can they be worth billions ? They should f**ing underwrite all deals. That way you get rid of all the crap.

If you used a credit card, I'd start there.

I recommend calling the police department in his area. I got a lot further with this route. They assigned a detective to the case, and I got at least 1 e-mail update from him.

The FBI site will have you submit a complaint, but I don't know if they ever pursued it.

I did the same thing on an authentic Chiefs jersey a few years back.

Paypal should refund your $.

I have had over four hundred good transactions on Ebay. The worst was a recent purchase that I did not get for quite a while. The guy would not answer my emails. I finally reversed charges with the credit card company I had on file with PayPal. Six weeks later the valve covers just showed up. I called the credit card company to release payment. PayPal will mess around forever IMO. But when you reverse charges with your credit card, you overide their control. This is exactly why I closed the bank account that I was verified by with them.

I quit buying stuff on EBay about a year ago. I had about 50 transactions, and only had a problem with one guy who sold me a bad memory stick for a Mac computer. Finally got a refund after threatening to drive down to Texas and cut his nads off with a rusty swiss army knife.

Most of my EBay transactions were very satisfactory. I quit doing EBay because you just have to work too damn hard to find a decent deal now. With so many people on the auctions, you are hard pressed to get a good price on anything any more. Last really good deal I got was probably three years ago. Since then seen too many things bid up to stupid levels...people paying more for stuff than it costs brand new, etc.

I had this little punk sell me a copy of NCAA 04 a couple years ago. The freakin' game was scratched pretty badly and it would not work at all. Got the usual wouldn't reply to emails crap for the first one or two. Then, he responded and said it was my fault for purchasing it. WTF? :cuss: Needless to say, after hassling with Amazon.com about it for awhile, I finally got paid back (by amazon.com ). I hate thieves. And it's kind of easy for them to get away with it on these sites like ebay, amazon, etc.

I shelled out $45 for a scsi drive that was labeled as EIDE. Thought I was getting a decent deal (that was a good price back then) so I had the guy send me two. When I got them and realized the error, he wouldn't own up to it or give me my $ back. So I have two brand new scuzies that are too small now for anyone to want.

For the most part though, I haven't had any problems. I always make sure though that I know the condition of the product, how much shipping will be - and that it is stateside, and what the sellors feedback is.
