He is going to average 9 yards per carry this year. So he can get his lifetime average back over 6 yards per carry. Maybe if he played the 2003 Chiefs for all 16 games.

3.8 per carry last year. Worst ypc for any runner over a 1000 yards last year.

Don't know how you can get your average "back" over 6 ypc when it was never there in the first place.

What we aren't reading is that Portis has a Plan!

This last off season he has been working with the offensive linemen teaching them how to perform chop blocks and talking to the equipment manager about how to best apply the cooking spray to his jersy.

I want him to get 20 carries for like 16 yards and the Priest to run for 200+ and 4 TD's, in the first half and the LJ to come in and run for another 100+ and 4 TD's then watch Priest and LJ walk across the field to Portis and tell him "Nice game" that is what I called a classy rubbing the salt into the wound. I like Priest a lot and think he's a great back, but holding the ball out to the D everytime he walks into the endzone is not that high on the "classy" scale either.

He's not holding it out to the defense. That's his little electric slide(glide?) move. Actually it's pretty tame compared to what most guys do.

Most guys do something after they get into the endzone, he's one of the few that does something while going in. I wouldn't give a rat's ass if he did it in the endzone. I wouldn't call what he does tame, but it doesn't rise to the level of some of the occasional BS that guys do when they break a long one and no one's around them as they cross the goalline. I just don't think it's that classy to do something as you're going in regardless of what it is.

I have to agree with the others, it is part of his slide into the endzone, he is not holding the ball out to anyone, it is more like a Ta Da. Of course I guess he could run around a salute allt he team mates and the fans because that is classy, or go make a pretend belt and parade it around because that is real class. I remember Marcus Allen keeping the football after every score like a friggin' trophy what a classless act huh. I think celebration adds to the game as long as it is not over the top complete slef adulation, so I would hardly say that the nano second that Priest does his slide is classless, I have NEVER heard anyone else (except donkey fans) say that. But you are entitled to your opinion of the BEST RB in the NFL right now, no matter how wrong it is, :p GO PRIEST / GO CHIEFS

I forgot to add that unfortunately that so called classless act is going to have to be witnessed 30 times this year. I would pay good money to have a great seat like the poor "D" watching him go in. Here is a preemptive Ta Da for those who don't like Priest Unplugged with the KC Slide

Dude, he is not "holding the ball out to the D" as you suggest. If he was he would be penalized for taunting after each TD. It is just his "open arms" signature.

Portis better be praying for a competent QB and passing game this year if he hopes to have anything higher than his 3.8 ypc he had last year.

As long as the D doesnt fear the pass and they stack up in the box, there is no way he's going to even sniff 9 yards per carry.

He's going to be seeing 8 in the box quite a bit. I highly doubt that the combination of Brunell/Ramsey to Santana Moss and David Patten are going to scare anyone.

As for playing the Chiefs this year, he's going to be seeing some new faces. I cant wait until Sammy Knight plants him in the turf and knocks his mouthpiece into the fifth row.
