I have no idea how accurate this stuff is

http://asp.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/salaries/playersbyposition.aspx?pos=39

Eric Warfield signed for a 5 million dollar signing bonus in '02
'02 base salary 525,000
'03 base salary 1,500,000
'04 base salary 2,500,000

4,525,000 off his 5 million signing bonus through '04

that 3rd DUI could cost him his job

Besides Law and Taylor, the names on that list that you mentioned there I'm sure one of those guys can be servicable. That's what we need.

That would be extremely stupid. Law is not healthy at all, IMO.

Regardless of Warfield, they should just sign either Law or Taylor period. And they woulda been better off signing nobody at the WR position.

There is a good chance he can be ready by season. He should be running at the start of training camp.

No. But his best years are definately behind him. He's a veteran, no doubt. He could be a servicable player for us. Would rather have Taylor or Law though.

The Chiefs did say when June 1 came that they were in the market for a WR (got one) and a CB. So I don't doubt that we were going to sign one even if Battle didn't get injured.

If Warfield is suspended 4 games...cut his ass and use the $$$ to sign Law.Interesting idea and I like it. However, if we wait until he is suspended are we still allowed to cut him before his suspension is up? I am not sure how this is handled by the CBA.

I don't think something like this has ever been done before. It's just an idea. It would send a message to players who screw up in the NFL though.

I would rather have Eric Warfield than Ty Law. Law's foot injury is going to be TOUGH to come back from. He still isn't running full speed. Anyone that signs Law will be taking a big risk.

Law's agent has already stated that they want him payed as a top flight CB, with a substantial signing bonus. I don't think he is worth the risk.

It is risky...but Surtain is our #1 and would cover the #1 receiver...Law would cover the #2.

How many probowls has Warfield been to and how many superbowls has he won?

If we could sign him for a decent price, it would be worth the risk...it could help take us all the way. You do make valid points however.

Warfield is healthy and ready to play. Ty Law is barely running, and mini camp has already started. I just don't think you make a switch like that unless (1) Ty Law is for sure, 100 percent healthy, and (2) able to play for a contract less than what Warfield is getting. Neither of those scenario's are true in this case.

So basically neither would probably be available until the 5th game of the season. Therefore, decide who would be better after week 4. Ty Law or Warfield?

At least Law is out due to injury and not because he was a dumbarse!! Warfield hurt the team with his actions and that should be in the forefront of everyones mind!

Cutting Warfield is a terrible idea IMO. We still couldn't afford to give Law a big contract. So that means a year from now, we're either having to pony up for another 8 figure signing bonus, or we're looking to fill a hole that will exist for 16 games instead of 4. Besides that, we'd just be getting older on a team that is already entirely too old.

I'm all for "win now", but cutting Warfield to get Law for one year is taking it too far.

What about Troy Brown, he played a solid CB for the Pats last year...has he signed yet?

Troy Brown had the luxury of playing CB behind one of the best front 7 (as a unit) in the NFL. With all due respect to his effort, I don't put much stock into it. It was a better media story than anything else.

If he had really done that good, why did the Pats dump him? He could have been a backup at two positions, while only consuming one roster spot.

NE resigned him. He was more of just an extra DB in a great scheme anyways.

He's probably going to have to take a 1 year deal (or a virtual one year deal) to prove himself.
