Anyone else getting sick of this show?

Discover Channel is one of the few channels on cable that have programming worth watching and it's like American Chopper is all that’s freakin’ on anymore. Did MTV take this channel over?

I get it, they build bikes, yes all these bikes are different but only slightly. How long is this supposed to be interesting?

The father/son relationship has it’s occasional moments but cripes, is this getting boring to anyone else?

I want my dinosours, space and techie stuff back dammit!!! :cuss:

End rant. THank you for your time.

Yeah, it is getting lame.

My son loved the recent dragon show. Was done like the Dinosaur ones, and very cool.

It takes a thief is interesting too.

How is it that every freaking bike they build comes down to the last second to complete? Compare their bikes to those of Arlen Ness and you can see how far they have to go.

Yeah its getting to be the same ol'. Mikey helped it out for a while. But his lameness grew very old quick. I was into the show for a while. But now i can hardly watch it.

I think you mean when the were on tonight show. I watched for about 30 seconds.

The discovery channel has sucked for a long time. I don't blame them for putting AC on 24/7. They want the money even at the expense of their rep as a science channel.

Most basic channels on cable tv suck.

And Jesse James and his portapotty delorean can go take a sh**.

AC is just downright stupid. First off, they aren't building bikes, they are assembling them. They bring in prebuild frames, tanks, wheels, motors, forks, etc. spotweld a couple doo-dads on, have someone with talent paint it up, then pass it off as something special.

The only thing worse than AC is Monster Garage. Let's build a ..... wait a second, lets not. Let's just say 'no' to crap TV. Better yet, if we are going to be building stuff, let's watch more Junkyard Wars.

I have to agree, the show is getting lame. I like the interplay between Paul Sr and Jr and Mikey. But the deadline stuff is stupid. I work as a designer and utilize CAD to make sure the part fits before it ever gets cut out or assembled. If they ever got out of the stone age manufacturing wise, I would imagine the design and assembly time would be cut drastically. Of course it's on TV and I'm sure there's extra drama built in just to keep it interesting. I still watch it, but only if there's nothing else on.

those american chopper guys are a bunch of hosers. they arent even really "builders." The guy on the show with the most talent i think is rick. i prefer to watch real builders like billy lane, indian larry, and kendal johnson. these guys do it for the love of motorcycles and not the fame.

I've seen that goofy American Chopper show a couple times. What is up with all the drama between father and son? Is that really critical to a show's success? In the past they'd edit all that crap out and just let you watch a chopper being built.

The real tragedy is that one of their shitty choppers will sell for $50-80K.

Because if you stay true, you can make more money over a longer duration. If you sellout for the cash now, you'll be a hasbeen in no time.

It's why Tom Cruise doesn't do Subway commercials.

Too late. Indian Larry died during his last biker buildoff show. He was doing some stunts for the crowd when he crashed. Too bad. BTW, his bike with the frame made out of a log chain was awesome.

One thing about OCC that I think is important to remember is that they have only been building bikes for about 5 years. They've come a long way in a short time. The shows would be better if the Discovery channel didn't run them ALL THE TIME - I've seen every build about 3x now. That is what irritates me most.

I still enjoy watching the new builds though.

i like the frame he built with the twisted down tube. that thing looked awesome. i also like the motors he built that was half panhead, half knuckle head. his bikes were sweet.

Well, if they weren't total sellouts, maybe the producers of the show would have found a more interesting format and plot. Maybe the father and son fade out of the "starring" roles and they bring in interesting craftsmen over several seasons to entertain loyal followers of the show. Maybe they start actually teaching viewers how to do some of the work on the bikes. I dunno - it's possible to milk that show for a couple decades but you have to be creative.

the biker build off shows are the best. i like to see the lesser nationally known builders get some exposure. i was talking to one of the guys down at big inch bikes and they might be doing a show on the next season. that would be sweet. they make some nice bikes down at kc creations.

I knew Discovery Channel was going to crap when they started making all those Trading Spaces and the subsequent spinoffs. I miss the days of true science and discovery type programs.

However, they have had a couple interesting programs in the last month or so. One was called Alien Planet. I thought that one was really cool. I don't remember what the other one was called. It was about a hypothetical future exploration of the solar system by humans. These are the kind of programs that made Discovery Channel one of my favorites. Problem is that they are few and far between any more.

Incessant re-runs are a problem...I see advertisements for new episodes on Monday's at 10pm EST and when I tuned in last night it was the trimspa bike.

I've started to tire of seeing the same build a hundred times...I can only think of 6 bikes or so that they play over and over again. Black Widow, Fire Bike, NYJ Bike, David Mann Bike, Stealth bike and Trimspa bike, Mikie's bike...that's all I ever see is those.

One time I caught half of the build of the Lincoln bike, but have never seen it again.

Now all the commercials with 7-11 and Napa are driving me crazy.

That could be interesting. Instead of a buildoff for a chopper/cruiser, they could do a buildoff that puts 2 bikes against each other on the track - 1/4 mile and/or oval/road course. And no out of the box engines either - build your own. Looks weigh in sure, but the bike has to perform to win.
