I kill them. I hunt them down like the sick little bastards they are and kill them. I can't rest if I see a spider. They must die.

I usually ignore spiders because I know that they trap and kill other nasties. Only if the spider is particularly large or ugly will I go to the trouble of removing it.

http://www.naturalmoment.com/nature/hedgeball-200470-23.htmlAh, Hedgeapple. I used to hit them around with a bat when I was a kid growing up in Kansas and Missouri. I haven't seen any around my area, yet I find it interesting they mention Ohio on that site...

I leave them alone but my wife kills any spider she sees. We live in black widow/brown recluse country but they pretty much keep to themselves. It's the damn wolf spiders I hate, they're harmless but big and ugly.

depends on what kind of spiders

if they are biting you ... then kill first or be biten

if they ain't the biting type then they probably do more good than bad.

I only notice them in my bathroom. I think they are coming up through the drains or something. But regardless I kill them whenever I see them. Almost all brown recluse.

You have to swing a mean shoe to kill bambi.

Depends on the spider. I don't kill the daddy long legs because they feed on the black widows and we have plenty of those around here. The rest I kill.

I let spiders like Daddy-long-legs be in peace but Black Widows and Brown Recluse must be murdered immediately or else.....

Absolutely. I've seen the damage a Brown Recluse can do. I'm not interested. Glad I've never spent any significant amount of time in their habitat.

Interestingly enough, just last night, I saw my new 85 year old neighbor lady in the back yard with a pellet gun. Seems she feels the same way about those cute, fuzzy, soft, cuddly, garden eating Rabbits.

I feel the same way about those car crushing, crop pillaging, rangemaggot Deer.

My mama damn near lost her flip off finger at the knuckle from a brown recluse bite while in Branson or the Ozarks....flame thrower if necessary, but kill them all.

(except those black-Yellow garden spiders I enjoyed so much when tossing bugs-grasshoppers in their web as a kid)

Usually I'll leave them alone, but sometimes it's like I'm possessed. My eyes light up, I growl "you're dead f*cker" and squash or smash the bastard.

Spray Spectracide around the foundation and along the window sills and you won't have to worry about what to do with them.

I recently bought an older farm house where the basement was full of spiders and webs. I used a shop-vac on 'em. Cleans the webs up and the spiders try to get away, but the vac get's em.

so what do you do? just place them around the house/property? my Mom has a few hedgeapple trees around and there are a few brown-recluse spiders she'd like to get rid of. I never even heard that wisetale, it sounds interesting and I would be willing to give it a try.

What really worked great for our recluse infestation was scattering mothballs in various places. Never store blankets etc in boxes, these little fuggers can live up to a year without food. SO that means in the bottom of boxes etc. Use the storage containers with lids, etc.

Put em around. In the laundryroom - under the couch - in closets - under the sink - in the garage, just places where they're inconspicuous. You'll notice the spiders gone in a matter of a week or thereabouts.

My wife insists on death for all spiders. She sort of screams and jumps around during her insisting.

And, for the record, we called them hedgeballs too.

Must be a south KC / Raytown thing.
