We have Indian Smoke shops in Oklahoma who sell them cheap. I buy the cheapest kind I can find. I bought a carton of Echo 100's yesterday for $15.50.

I pay ten sixty eight for three packs of Marlboro's at a cigar shop by my house. Not as good as fifteen fifty for twenty packs, but at least I will kill my lungs with smoke that tastes good!!

$26 and some change per carton.

I always remember to take plenty when going to the bar as I was at one the other night and noticed they were $5.25 a pack from the machine.

Damn, at that rate you will be fine until you stop smoking. Then you will kill over in a year from cancer.

I hear stories like that once in a while. A ninty year old man acquires cancer after he stoped smoking three packs a day for seventy five years.

Yeah, when I was 18, (Granted, I started when I was 17, but had my parents to buy it for me, heh) it used to be at least 3 bucks or so, a can. Now that it's very high, sometimes I just take the cheaper route, which the can of Wolf, and that's around 2.75 or so.

4.25 for Camel, no filter.

They tell you right on the back of the pack: "Don't look for premiums or coupons, as the cost of the tobaccos blended in CAMEL Cigarettes prohibits the use of them."
They got me at almost 5 bucks a pack and brag that I'll never receive a penny off.
But still I buy them...

I'll be loading up on cartons of Marlboros when I go to Missouri tomorrow, like always. I can generally get them for around $25.

This is a chart of cigarette taxes. As you can see, Missouri has the lowest rate of any state that doesn't have the word "Carolina" in it.

Good point - but there aren't any reservations near me. And I don't trust ordering them online.

I remember buying them on the ship when I was in the Navy. As soon as we were 50 miles from the U.S., federal taxes no longer applied. I could buy a carton of Marlboros for $4.00. Granted, that was 20 years ago, but it was a drastic savings even then.

A PACK of Marlboros goes for around $6.00 in Chicago now. Like I'll ever buy smokes there. F#cking thieves.

I was in Korea in 1968 and cigs were $2.00 per carton. And the carton was wrapped in cellophane like the individual packs.

I've gone about 6 months now without it and noticed that these price hikes have created all sorts of new flavors at a cheaper price. Wouldn't surprise me - I'm surprised they stayed so low for so long (although I'm sure they'll always be less than the taxes levied by the Peoples Republik of Illinois).

It's about time for me to quit, anyway. That first digit numeral change in my age I got today says so. :sulk:

I've only been smoking for about a year now and I'm thinking about quitting. Considering the patch or gum...nicorette. I've already developed a regular cough and can't run a mile to save my life anymore, plus my clothes stink and I go through about a bottle of Fabreeze per week...of course that wouldn't make any difference because my roommates smoke inside the house.

Worked for me (gum & patch that is).
The key to quitting is wanting to quit. Not half-assed "boy, sure would like to quit but it's so hard waaaah" bs, really want to quit.

The gum & patch help take the edge off. When I wen cold turkey, I seriously contemplated murder. W/ the patch, I just wanted to kick people's asses ;)

One time I tried to quit smoking, caffeine and soda all at once... really difficult. At the time I was smoking about a pack a day of the non-filtered Djarums, and drinking about 6 liters of Dr. Pepper. I don't remember most of it, but I have heard I was less than pleasant to be around.
