I think Chrsitian Bale would be a nice fit, but then again he was Batman, and I don't think the director would like to have "Batman" play James Bond. At least he kinda looks the part.

Can't be too pretty or too much of a fop (sorry Jude Law and Orlando Bloom and JOnathan Rhys-Myers and Nip Tuck Guy)

Can't be too plain (Sorry Daniel Craig and those of your ilk)

Can't play another major action character (Sorry Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Ewan McGrego and Fantastic Four guy)

Owen is just good looking enough, but not too good looking. Hard edged enough, but not too hard...
