WTF, are you a Golden Retriever? There are some who'd say that'd be an improvement. I rarely drink anything other than water, orange juice and gatorade. Occasionally a beer if it's a nice evening for sitting out on my porch. Which doesn't sound like a bad idea right now, think it's finally under 80.

Drinking water. Had half a Coke Zero tonight. The other half went into the windshield of a nostalgic car when the SOB about ran the wife and I over as we're walking down the road. ****er had the whole road to himself and failed to yield even an inch to we walkers. So, I dropped the coke on his windshield. I was pretty relieved after he stopped, assessed the damage, and continued driving. I didn't want to throw down.

I wasn't pointing out the neg-rep that you've chosen to focus on... I was pointing out the obvious contradiction between what you were saying publicly at the time (about how I supposedly hate this country) and what you are publicly saying now (that I don't hate this country).

Out of curiosity, do you write even when you don't feel like writing? Some of my best work has come when I don't want to write. But it's difficult for me lately, because I literally have no attention span. I can sit and write a sentence and then suddenly it's 20 minutes later and I've been staring at a patch of paint the whole time. Trust me, that really f*cks with your head. I can't concentrate on anything. I think it's because I've starting putting some pressure on myself, and I'm not handling it very well.

That sucks... I've just gotten back into my roll on some of the film work I've been doing. I picked up the feature that my partner and I ditched and started re-editing it. I'm getting so stoked about it I got editing the other night around 4:30 p.m. My wife came home at 11 or so, said a few things to me (none of it registered) and some time later she came in and got my attention. She said, "When are you coming to bed?" I looked at the clock and it 2:47! I just got on a roll and the time flew by!

I'm not trying to brag, but I'm just really excited that I've gotten that focus and passion back -- I haven't had that in my life for a couple years.

I can't say I've ever had any passion about anything. It'll be next to impossible for me to be passionate in any sort of artistic endeavor because I'm so critical of myself. Sometimes I think if I wrote something that didn't completely suck, I'd maybe get into it, but who knows.
No, you just need to let go. Leonardo DaVinci said, "Art is never finished, only abandoned." That goes for writing as well as filmmaking and holds true to all art forms. Nothing is perfect, but if it comes from your heart and has a soul it's worth putting out there. Let your audience decide.

Nice.

I look at $#it like "Primer" and "The United States of Leland" and see story-driven films that just amaze me...and cost next to nothing.

Just remember that you CAN make a really good film if you put yer' mind to it... :thumb:
Not to sound like Stuart Smalley, but I know I have a few good stories in me. That's what I've been struggling with lately is I'd say I wanted to be a filmmaker, but always said I'd probably never succeed. Once I realized that statement was NOT "being realistic," it was being self defeatist I got a lot better. In the last few years I've let what once was my dream become my hobby. Not anymore!

As for story driven films -- that's what I want to do. As much as I want to be famous, I do NOT want to work in Hollywood. I want to be a very successful indie filmmaker. And we don't have any money, and investors in KC are few and far between, so we have to rely on good stories.

This latest is a killer! It's called "Obituary" and will be a web serial, 7 episodes, about 4 minutes each. Coming soon!

You usually talk about your softball exploits but You haven't mentioned it lately. That could be part of the weight gain deal.

Nah - I've played softball for years and never lost a pound. I took most of last year off after a horrible outing for a tournament team. But I've recently taken it up again. Played one night with Wutamess's regular team. I think I did alright.

I just randomly woke up later. Slept right through the fall apparently.

I've slept out there a fair amount. Haven't scored because of the hammock, though. There was a storm Thursday night, so everything out there looks like hell now. My intention was to clean it today, but I just got out of bed a little bit ago...

You got a recipe for the limeade?

Darn tootin Fig Newton! (nevermind)

Limeade/Lemonade base

2 1/2 cups water
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups FRESH!!!! lime juice/lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon lime/lemon zest (finely grated lime/lemon peel)

Add sugar and water and heat (stovetop or microwave) 'til sugar is disolved. While sugar water is cooling juice enough limes(7-8)/lemons (6-7) to make 1 1/4 cups juice. Add lime/lemon and zest to cooled (20 minutes minimum) sugar water, place in jar and refigerate up to 3 days. (1 qt base)

To make limeade/lemonade: add base and equal parts water and ice (combined) to get a refreshing glass of limeade/lemonade.

As good as Sonics :toast:

See, now I like you again. I don't remember when I had my first seven and seven exactly, but I remember thinking, "wow, this is like Whiskey and coke... only better!"

Coke is just too sweet. It takes away from the flavor of the whiskey too much. 7-up has a touch of sweetness to it, but it's low key enough that you can enjoy the flavor of the whiskey more.

Granted, you have to enjoy the taste of whiskey to hold this opinion. If you're the sort of asshole that is mixing coke with whiskey to hide the flavor of whiskey, you won't like 7-up and whiskey.

****, I could drink Crown straight. It's not the best whiskey in the world, but it tastes a ****load better than Beam by itself.

while at the bar I started with a 32 oz pitcher of Boddington's, which I found rather filling. I hereby retract all my criticisms of folks who call guinness a meal, as I have now actually found a beer that make my belly feel full, too. Anyway, after realizing I couldn't drink that all night (even though I loved the taste) I switched to Alaskan Amber. Had a few pitchers of that before the fat tire walk home. Really took off in the past year. I'd been drinking Guinness for awhile before that... but, for the most part, was just drinking the cheap stuff. Then, while I was living in Tucson last summer I found a nearby liquor store with a wide beer selection. I started just going in and picking up random sixers to see what kinds I liked. Now it's to the point where I just don't even like Miller Lite and the sort anymore. I still find myself drinking it at bars sometimes, though. Just because drinking the good stuff at bars in Scottsdale could bankrupt me. Hell, I can blow $100 in a night of drinking Miller Lite as it is.
