View Full Version : After 3 weeks in Des Moines....

I have discovered that this place is absolutely crawling with bunnies. Everywhere except the center of downtown if you go for a walk youll see at least 1 or 2 rabbits scurrying off into a bush somewhere, even in long-established residential areas. Family members have started to call my new home "Des Bunny" when they visit.

Is there anything else about Iowa that I should be aware of?

Whew. For a second, I thought you were going to say "After three weeks in Des Moines, I seriously contemplated clawing my eyes out and moving to Tibet".

The weather here sucks. 100 degrees and 0 degrees and virtually nothing in between most times.

Corn fields are good for eating in August and parties any other time of year.

That's all I remember from growing up there.

How lucky to have furry little bunnies running everywhere. I only have one, named skittles.

Now about Iowa, My Dallas Stars just decide not to stay with utah...so they chose Iowa. Now you have an AHL hockey team called the Iowa Stars......they have their own website...check it out.:p

hmmmmm, maybe I should of explained it better, do you know what I am talking about?

Maybe they should introduce some cobras to control the bunny population.

Tons of bunnies here in Overland Park/Olathe KS, too. There's a bike trail I walk and jog on, and some evenings I'll see 10 or more. Deer, too. And snakes. I've seen two pretty nice sized snakes in the last two weeks, slinking across the path during the hottest part of the day (seemed unusual).

I have about 4-5 that love my large backyard in Arkansas. They are almost tame. When I go out to use my grill, they stop to look at me for a second and then they go back to eating.

How did my pure innocent discussion about Iowa bunnies get sidetracked into a debate on the merits of various vibrators? I'm appalled!

Maybe they should introduce some cobras to control the bunny population.

Interesting... Iowa climate is very inhospitable to cobras however, and the only snakes big enough to eat a freakin rabbit that might be native to Iowa are Rattlesnakes.

We need to research the development and expansion of wild Rattlesnake habitat and populations. That ought to show those arrogant furballs who the boss is.

The nose usually is one of the last things to Stop twitching, when you pump a hollowpoint into a bunnie's brainpan.

My grandma always made the best rabbit. She would fry it first, then put it in the crock pot with gravy and stew it all day. The result was pure bunny bliss...

All I know is the damn rabbits here in IA have ruined my bird dog. Once a dog gets a taste of wild rabbit, they lose interest in birds and never hunt the same.
