Chargers to retire Hall of Fame receiver's number

San Diego Chargers: The Chargers plan to retire the uniform number of Hall of Fame wide receiver Lance Alworth.

The team will announce details at a news conference on Thursday.

Alworth wore No. 19 when he played for the Chargers from 1962-1970. He played with the Dallas Cowboys from 1971-72 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1978.

The Chargers retired quarterback Dan Fouts No. 14 in 1988, the year after he retired from his Hall of Fame career.

No chit!

The only Non-Chiefs jersey I had as a kid was Lance Alworth. Dude was absolutely amazing. Considering he was their organizations 1st great player, I can't believe it took them that damn long.

I imagine Sid Gillman can rest peacefully now.........
