View Full Version : Seymour Ends Holdout (Signs Deal Increasing 2005 Salary)

The Patriots and their All Pro DE/DT Richard Seymour have reached an agreement that will bring him back into their camp starting tomorrow. He was a camp holdout.

The rumor is that he is signing a deal that will increase his salary for this year only from $2.9M to $4M. This is, apparently, a short-term move to bring him into camp, while they continue to discuss a longer-term extension.

Seymour is currently under contract through the 2006 season (i.e. the next TWO years). He is still working under his 6 year rookie contract, however, and feels underpaid after helping bring 3 SB rings to Foxboro and as a, err, 3 time Pro Bowler and 2 time All Pro.

Seymour, 6'6" and 310 pounds, anchors a line consisting of 3 first round draft picks (Vice Wilfork, Ty Warren) that are all 25 years or younger and are expected to be the foundation of the Pats defense for many years to come.
