yes it is......and it is making me mad. So I hit it kinda hard with a hammer and it is whining and clicking now. Pretty sure I am on to something. :cuss:

My External Maxtor hard drive crapped out on me a couple of months ago. It was only 6 months old, but had exceeded the 90 day waranty. Luckily I had almost all 70 gigs I had on it backed up on DVD's. Don't buy anything from Maxtor...

Maxtor sucks.

Seagate the best.

They all fail at times. I've gone through failing Seagates, Maxtor's and Western Digital's. Seriously. I'm now using Quantum drives and haven't had any issues. But we'll see.

It's amazing they work in the first place.

Amazingly delicate. Wonder why Ipods don't crash more often.

Freeze it.

Believe it or not, he isn't kidding.

Freezing and thawing out an ailing hard drive can sometimes work miracles.

I had a hard drive get zapped by a thunderstorm a few years ago. It was reccomended to me.

I've been pretty lucky. That's the only hard drive I've lost.
