Does anyone know the current entry requirements? I can't tell from the State Department's site if you need a passport now or not.

I think all they require is that you are either bringing Gold that you 'acquired' from Sweden, or are looking for illegal entry into the U.S.A....I don't suppose you are an underager looking to break into the prostitution game are you? Peh, nevermind

You need to stop shaving.. stop using deoderant.. get a really pissy attitude.. and get fat: well, if you are going into French Canada that is..

BTW over the weekend, me and the fam were camping at St. Augustine and 3 vans full of Quebec'ers were there...I thought the women were shaving up there, the hairy thing was a thing of the past...? nope, they all had the hairy 'happy trail' I noticed, when they were wearing the swim suits. I immediately left the pool area.

Just got back from Canada - passport will be needed by end of 2006.
Right now all you need is your Birth Certificate and a picture ID (drivers liscense, etc)

Make sure it's a certified copy of your birth certificate. If it's not you may be refused entry. You can easily obtain one from the county where you were born if you your copy isn't certified.

http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/regional/regional_1170.html

TIPS FOR TRAVELERS TO CANADA

U.S. Department of State
Publication 11046
Bureau of Consular Affairs
June 2003
Revised May 2005

Current Requirements for Entry Into Canada

Visas are not required for U.S. citizens entering Canada from the U.S. You will, however, need:

Proof of your U.S. citizenship such as your U.S. passport (For information on obtaining a U.S. passport, check with one of the regional passport agencies located throughout the U.S.) or certified copy of your birth certificate issued by the city, county or state in the U.S. where you were born. If you are a naturalized U.S. citizen and do not have a passport, you should travel with your naturalization certificate. A driver’s license or Social Security card is NOT valid proof of citizenship.
photo identification, such as a current, valid driver’s license.

New Requirements for Travelers Between the United States and the Western Hemisphere: Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHI)

Travelers to and from Canada will be required to have a U.S. passport or other secure, accepted document to enter or re-enter the United States. This is a change from prior travel requirements and will affect all U.S. citizens entering the United States from countries within the Western Hemisphere. The goal is to strengthen border security and facilitate entry into the United States for U.S. citizens and legitimate foreign visitors. The U.S. passport is the document of choice because of the incorporated advanced security features.

For land border crossings to Canada, other documents that we anticipate will be acceptable under WHI are NEXUS and FAST program cards. No other document is currently available that will be an acceptable substitute for a U.S. passport, NEXUS or FAST card. However, we are using new technologies to create other acceptable travel documents. We will make public additional travel document options as they become available.

The travel initiative requirements will be rolled out in phases, providing as much advance notice as possible to the affected public to enable them to meet the terms of the new guidelines. The proposed implementation timeline is as follows:

December 31, 2005 – Passport or other accepted document required for all travel (air/sea) to or from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Central and South America.
December 31, 2006 – Passport or other accepted document required for all air and sea travel to or from Mexico and Canada.
December 31, 2007 – Passport or other accepted document required for all air, sea and land border crossings.

What a pain in the ass. We drive through Canada occasionally when we go to Syracuse (where my wife's family is from) or Niagara Falls. I have a copy of my birth certificate somewhere - I think it's certified, but don't really know. I guess I should check on it.

I've never had a passport - haven't been to any foreign countries other than Canada since I was in the Navy, and at that point I had a military ID that did the trick. Should probably break down and get one.

I guess you can't be too careful, though, what with so may 40-year-old white American terrorists trying to run the border. :shake:

They did pull a few bags out in Washington when we crossed back over though.

I love reading c4me's self important posting. It amuses me to know that adults can be so immature. Like I think my 11 year old sister had more maturity in her 6 or 7 years ago that c4me will ever have.

On a side note, I see Donger has thrown away his conservative shell, breaking out of the closet as a liberal, and is going to canada to marry a man for tax benefits. Congrats.

They did that to my wife and I, too. We were visiting my grandparents, who lived near the border in NE Washington. We decided to do a day trip up to Canada.

When we got to the border, they had us get out of the car and proceeded to completely tear it apart. If a panel could easily come off, they pulled it off. Pulled up all of the seat cushions and tore a bunch of the dash apart.

We didn't have the hippy thing going, since I was still in the Army guard at the time. I guess they targeted us since we were young, from Oregon and had no luggage. The only scary thing was that I had just bought the car used and would have been screwed if a former owner had left something in the car.

By the way, they don't put all of that stuff back together.

no problem getting INTO canda, but coming back was a trip every time...

the first time we were coming back over the foot bridge (we walked so my car wouldn't get torn apart), they didn't want to let my wife back in...

seems she hasn't changed her green card from her maiden name to her married name, and of course all of her other id had her married name...

another day, they questioned me and patted me down because i was sweating and redfaced...

i guess they thought i was nervous or someting, but i was really just winded from walking across the bridge...

one other time, my son got extra questioning because he's half samoan and somewhat darker skin and i guess they thought he looked middle-eastern or something...

All I said... in a short version.
Luv= virgin (didn't mean it in a bad way)
Bad= crackhead, but later was informed it was meth (picture as proof)
Just call em like I see em.well, i was always sad when someone mentioned my virginity...

but i got over it by the time i was 45...

and how do you know badgirl is a crackhead?

she doesn't talk like one on the board...

she lives with stumpy and he's not a crackhead...

are you sure about that?

maybe she was just kidding or something...

of course, that was just after 9/11 but i'd guess that border security is still as tight as it was then, at least at the official crossings...

Hmm, interesting thread hijack topic. Has there ever been a sequel that was better than the first one? I can't think of one.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

Hell, anything is better than Star Trek: The Motion Picture.

Yeah, I think go bo is working on getting laid, after reading his dozen or so defenses. Or hes whoring posts. Or c4me is giving him lots of pos rep and hes whoring that. Either way, it should be no surprise that c4me responded to my constructive criticisms with a bout of negrepping and the quote: "bite me asshole"

It really shows her true colors which consist of that pasty white(trash) color so elegantly complimented by the tomato red ring that is her neck.

Last time I went to Canada it was pre-9/11.

At that time you could cross with a valid drivers license.

I always used my passport but others with the company just used their license.
