All joking aside, we aren't going to find anybody better than Tynes. Actually, Tynes still isn't that horrible. Every kicker misses FG's, by no means has Tynes been great, but there have been a lot of guys who've done worse than him in the last year.

You can't expect him to be perfect. If you are, which I think some people are, you're expecting too much. He's not going to be, especially having to kick in Arrowhead. You also just can't hold a couple mistakes he made in game 5 last year against him forever. I'm not sure what he's done in his last 12 games to make people think he can't cut it.... he hasn't been the greatest kicker ever, but people treat him like he's the Bartee of kickers, and that's a joke.

I am more concerned with his kickoffs than his FG's. Those low line drives give the return team lots of yards and ability to coordinate blocks. I'd rather see a kick that hangs high and just makes it to the goal line. Give the kicking team a chance to make a good play.

Those of you wanting to see Tynes gone must not remember Christmas day 1971 very well.

1971: With Ottis Taylor leading the NFL in receiving yards and Ed Podolak becoming the team's top rusher. The Chiefs once again became one of the top teams in the AFC. Also helping to lead the Chiefs was the linebacking trio of Willie Lanier, Bobby Bell and Jim Lynch was the league's best. In the season's next-to-last game with the Oakland Raiders, a late field goal by Stenerud gave the Chiefs a 16-14 victory and a Western Division title. The team finished with a 10-3-1 mark, one-and-a-half games ahead of Oakland. In the 1st Round of the playoffs the Chiefs hosted the Miami Dolphins in the final game at Kansas City Municipal Stadium on Christmas Day. Chiefs RB Ed Podolack would have a career game accounting for 350 All-Purpose Yards, but the Chiefs were unable to win the game as PK Jan Stenerude missed on several opportunities. The Dolphins and Chiefs would battle late into the 2nd OT, as the game became the longest in NFL history. The Dolphins would go on to win the game 27-24 on a Garo Yupremian FG to advance to the AFC Championship.

I was in the stands and the kick I remember was about a yard wide. I think that was the beginning of the end of the Chiefs winning ways. (It was a very cold day in K.C. in more ways than one.)

You make an EXCELLENT point. Several excellent kickers have struggled at the start of their careers ... some even bounce around a few teams.

This kid has something you can't teach ... a strong leg. He will improve his accuracy to what anyone we can bring in will do. I'd hate to see him in the HOF from kicking on another team. So, why not just stick with him and let our ST coaches work with him.

Are we not too quick to give up on young players? A kid has one bad game and we call for his head on a silver platter. Maybe we need to back off a little and give the kids a chance.

I think it is going to be very interesting to see what that 51 yarder does for his confidence.

Compare Kaeding's and Tynes' psychy right now. Correctly, Marty keeps sending Kaeding out there and he misses all 3 of his attempts. Tynes misses 1 and Vermeil sends him out there 2 more times, one a 51 yarder. He hits them both. Tynes could very well get hot now.
