No doubt folks. Just watch Surtain will be a great addition. Warfield will be adequate. It'll be guys like Hicks who will consistently provide an inconsistent pass rush.

*KC's pass defense will be below average this year. I'm tell'n ya, im callin it folks. Don't get me wrong, Surtain is great, and Warfield is solid. But,the main element, and reason, our pass defense will be below average this year, is because of our inconsistent pass rush. Hicks is a big reason. Guys like him are going to hurt us this year. Pardon me for sounding like a pessimist, but, I just dont see it from him. Even from our D-line. Now, I hope I'm wrong. But, I believe, and think that, In order for our pass defense to be successful, Gunther has to find a way to be more creative on the outside pass rush imo. Again, I just don't see it from Hicks, even our D-line. I hope Carlos Hall surprises us, and provides a good situational pass rush. WE MUST, find a way to get a pass rush in order to get a successful pass defense. Gunther, are you listening?

You could do alot worse than five sacks a year.

I hope that huge f*ck up that caused the 41 yard run by Allen was just a fluke. If his run D is no good, he may as well be moved back to LB.

I think his poor run defense is one of the reasons Gun wants to put Bell behind him.

I still think Carlos Hall will become the starter.

It would be nice if he got healthy so we could see if he is better against the run then Jared.

I remember Allen was a good pass rusher last year, but I don't remember much about his stopping the run one way or the other.

Yea, I'd like to see what he can do. Hall has been a situational player, but he can get to the QB as well. Let's hope he can contain on the run plays. Allen has some work to do.

The way I remember it he was pretty bad against the run. I don't remember anything glaringly bad about his run defense.

Where's Flo? She voted for Hicks over EJ Holub in the Greatest Chiefs poll.

That's interesting, considering several of us were advocating a big-time DE over a shutdown CB and were told we were stupid...

I don't really think a replacement was out there.

I wanted Strahan but that was never realistic.

I'd completely agree, if there were a better option on the team for his position.

There isn't.

Actually there is.

John Browning is a better DE than DT, and far better than Hicks.

Exactly. Browning should be a starter on our D-line. Even despite Hicks presence, he is fundamentally better then most of the D-lineman we have, and he also puts in the most effort. I like John Browning.

He needs to be at DE.
He isn't fast, but he would still apply pressure on the QB.

But equally as important, as you say, he's fundamentally sound, and he would keep the outside containment on those plays that Hicks bites on, and jumps inside every time.

Eric Hicks just needs to go the **** away.

I'll bet he even sucks...............err...........even blows.............err.........I'll bet he can't even do that properly.

Probably loses "outside containment" on that job also.

Whatever, Hicks was in the backfield yesterday, when the QB had teh ball more than once. You guys are picking on the wrong people.

Hicks ain't going anywhere let's face it. If anything Browning will replace Allen on running downs. And hopefully Hall will see more playing time than we woudlk think. But I am sure he will only be uses as a pass rush specialist for a while anyway.

Personally I am hoping that if Allen doesn't improve against the run that Hall turns out to be decent in run defense. Then he could start in Allen's place, and Allen could sub in for Hicks in obvious passing situations.

I think Hall is slated right now to replace Hicks on passing downs.

Right now they have him backing up Allen on the depth chart. If Allen is starting it would make more sense for him to sub in for Hicks on obvious passing downs. I guess we won't really know what they want to do with him until he is actually healthy enough to practice and play.

I couldn't help but blurt out "Oh sh*(t not again"! when the Vikings ran a few bootlegs and we bit.......like always.

Thankfully, DJ made up some ground; and even though the pass was completed, at least he was close enought to give Dante a little somethin' somethin'.

I hope our DE's don't get embarassed again this year with the misdirection.

I thought they played the bootleg pretty well. All things considered.

Oh yeah? I wonder of Hall can play the run. Allen can't very well. That was his problem last year.

On the play you are talking about the pass wasn't complete. Surtain was covering Burleson like a glove.

As much as I think someone needs to step up and leave the coaches no other choice but to replace Hicks (signature bias not intended), it looked to me like Allen was a bigger problem. He's either overly excited or going into a dreaded sophomore slump.

Huh? On the first TD Jared got sucked in completely. Dante was able to set and throw without contention.

Ill say this, if Allen is going to be that bad against the run all year, they need to just bench his ass outright.

That was pathetic. He had Moore around the waist, and just blew the tackle and let him go for 51 yards.

On top of that, he generated ZERO pass rush last night. If he were consistently in the face of the QB, I could look past the flaw in his run defense. But hes not generating pass rush worthy enough to be on the field as a liability that big against the run.

Hopefully Carlos Hall gets healthy and can push Allen to work on that part of his game. Because that was PATHETIC.

Mewelde freakin Moore.

Gimme a break. The guy is only playing because Onterrio Smith got suspended for the season.

Whats going to happen when we play some really dangerous backs this year? Allen better man up and improve against the run or take his ass to the bench, because that kind of play isnt going to improve anything on defense.

Weve got some pretty nasty running backs to take on this season, including Curtis Martin in the opener, and everyone's favorite Ex-Bronco Clinton Portis of the Washington Redskins. He's probably drooling over the prospect of playing the Chiefs defense again.

I was referring to the bootleg where DJ pressured Culpepper. In fact I don't think they scored a TD off the bootleg on either of their TD's.

And that is the reason why Hicks is the star of our Defense... ****ing Vermiel thinks he does no wrong...
