"The Chiefs will try again in Sunday's game at Tennessee with perhaps two new components in their running game. Fullback Donnell Bennett, who has what the Chiefs called a sprained foot, left Arrowhead Stadium on crutches Monday and with a cast covering his right foot and ankle.
That leaves his availability for Sunday in serious doubt. Coach Gunther Cunningham said if Bennett doesn't play, the Chiefs would move Richardson to fullback and divide the playing time at halfback between Mike Cloud and rookie Frank Moreau.
Kimble Anders, Cunningham said, would remain the backup fullback.
The Chiefs took an MRI of guard Dave Szott's sprained elbow, and his absence could be lengthy. He probably won't play against the Titans, leaving his spot for Donald Willis, Jeff Blackshear or some combination of the two.
The loss of Szott, one of the game's top guards, would be a loss for the Chiefs.
"The guys that came in there did a good job," quarterback Elvis Grbac said. "But Szotter is one of those guys that can do great things."
"The Chiefs, one of the NFL's top rushing teams the last several seasons, believe they'll be up to it.
"I think it's there," Cunningham said. "We're going to keep hammering away, and we'll get it solved."
