It happened on the touchdown pass that Warner threw that was called back because of a holding penalty. It was towards the end of the first quarter. The reciever tried to spike/throw the ball against the back wall of the end zone, and instead it missed a little high and SMACKED a guy right in the face in the first row. It was pretty funny, but none of the announcers on either the radio or the TV saw it...

I do not believe the ball actually hit anyone. Looked to me like everyone ducked. By the way, it was not funny. There were children sitting in that row, dumb ass. How would you like it if one of your children took a purposely thrown 90 mph football in the grill?

I didn't see it, but that sounds like something that should draw a pretty hefty fine.

In one of these threads someone mentioned they saw them filling out a police report.

As a mommy, I'd be... angry. if my kid was hit for an a-hole reason like that.

I'd probably make the highlight reel.

I saw it on my DVD that I recorded the game last night. Just missed him barely.

Bolden was lucky that nobody from the stands jumped over and punked his ass.

Edit: It actually bounced off some guys' hand and went to the other guy's back of his head, or so it appears on that link.

Irrevelant. What if a linebacker is coming in on the QB and accidentally hits him in the head? Does he get to tell the ref to pick up the flag because it was an accident? Hell no! He gets nailed with a 15 yard personal foul. The lesson here is, DON'T BE STUPID!

So if a Kicker shanks a low line drive into the crowd and hits a kid there should be a penalty? A miss throw is something to be up in arms about? You need to get your superhero panties out of a bunch. And if I want to be stupid who is going to stop me, hey my wife has been trying for years she finally figured might as well laugh at him than trying to stop him. :D :p

First off, no NFL WR can throw a football 90 mph, let alone can any QB in the league do it. The hardest thrower IMO Favre, can throw it around upper 60's or lower 70's. And by the way it was funny and if the kids were to get hit, well shit happens. It wasn't intentional, as a lot of WR's throw the ball against the wall in the back of the endzone after a TD reception.

On a side note that is related to that, McCleon can NOT be the starter opposite of Surtain. No ****in way.

There's one big glaring difference here. The receiver INTENTIONALLY threw that ball in the direction of the fans. he may not have meant to throw it into the crowd but he INTENTIONALLY THREW IT IN THEIR DIRECTION.

I can see you take everything literally. 90 mph was a "phrase." not an exact measurement of actualy velocity.
And by the way it was funny and if the kids were to get hit, well shit happens.
Do you have children? I'm betting the answer is no.
It wasn't intentional, as a lot of WR's throw the ball against the wall in the back of the endzone after a TD reception.
I saw Dante do it against the Ravens a few years back on a kickoff he ran back for a TD. The difference is, he made DAMN SURE he threw it LOW and AWAY from the fans. The Cards receiver didn't give a damn. He just chucked it as hard as he could, fans or no fans.

That is just because the cardinal wide recievers are not use to being in the endzone, not enough practice or reps throwing to a wall.

Nope, didn't see it. Was turned around asking dad what the penalty call was because I didn't understand the ref on the mic.

We left at halftime. Three hour drive home. Got home at 12:30AM. We listened to the rest of the game and the post-game show on the radio.

Boldin threw that ball very hard. He played some QB at FSU including in the 2003 Sugar Bowl, where he threw a TD pass, and should of had another from 50 + yards except that the WR dropped it.

It used to be an automatic fine to throw the ball in the stands, and it may still be.

It should be a fine for anybody that has been to the ProBowl to celebrate a pre-season TD that much, esp. one called back by penalty.

He definately didn't do it on purpose. He didn't even watch the throw, and probably STILL doesn't realize that he hit anybody with it. It most definately hit that guy with the glasses. You see the guy shake his head like a cartoon character right after it happens, but then the feed cuts away. I think it's hysterical, and if it happened to me, I'd be on the Planet laughing hysterically about it. Anybody that wants to sue for an accident like this is freaking stupid. Unless it caused some kind of permanant damage, in that case, I'd say Bolden would be responsible for making it right, or paying for surgery or something. If it hit my kid, I'd just make sure that my kid was alright, and we'd move on...

As for MLB taking better care of their fans? They have a sport where fans get hit 2-3 or more times per game, and the staff is trained to run directly at the fan and ask him if he needs medical attention. It's a liability issue. NFL fans almost NEVER get hit. In fact, the ball hardly ever hits the stands. The $50.00 fine for throwing the ball into the stands has never been a liability issue in the NFL, because they don't anticipate anybody getting hurt. The money is to cover the cost for the football that retails for $80.00.

Outstanding! Well put! As soon as I learn how to rep....

Just like going to a hockey game....always keep your eyes on the puck...you never know when it might leave the playing surface.

Was it irresponsible? maybe. Probably a mistake though....certainly not enough to file charges for god's sake.

I dont know what's worse....not paying attention and getting a football in the melon....or being a wuss and consider filing charges (and working the legal system so you can get paid to sit on your ass all day watching tv)
