my sf buddy's son (who just graduated from west point) got hit in mosul iraq. i haven't any recent updates on his condition other than "nothing vital was hit". their stryker vehicle was blown up by a 155mm arty shell IED.

his driver is apparently worse off, and may not make it.

prayers appreciated for these two brave young men, their unit and their respective families.

thanks.

Send him our thanks and best wishes as well.

I am not religious by nature, but do take the time to appreciate sacrifices others have made.

will do...

but loki, this is not a political thread...

it's customary to do these in the main forum so that everyone who wants can join in...

i'd suggest starting another thread in the lounge unless the mods can move this one...

no new news to report @ this time. sorry.

update.

driver didn't make it.

lt. gus is headed for germany for more surgery. his legs and lower
abdomen are hammered with shrapnel, but he's going to make it.
(and yes... he still has his "plumbing" intact. lucky.)

Good luck to son and driver.

- lt. gus will be returning to duty soon.

- driver didn't make it.

- the other trooper that got blasted lost his foot, but will live.

***

on a side note, the a$$hole ragheads who set up the ambush all got
smoked to the last man.
their whole mission was to disrupt the medical clinic (immunizations for
school children) the army had set up and lt. gus's unit was there to
protect.
friggin bastards have no honor amongst them... :cuss:
