Starting the Monday after our Game Sept 11th I'm going to post a list of KC's top 16 players. Based on their performance and your votes, one is gonna get booted. The day after each game I'll repost the list minus the player that got the most votes from the week before. At the end of Week 17 we'll have our CP Player of the Year. Here's my prelim list of players that I'll have on there. Comments on the list appreciated.

Trent Green
Priest Holmes
Tony Gonzalez
Tony Richardson
Larry Johnson
Eddie Kennison
Samie Parker
Dante Hall
Chiefs D-Line
Chiefs O-Line
Patrick Surtain
#2 CB (if whoever plays here hold up long enough for Warfield to enter the contest I'll be amazed :p )
Kendrell Bell
Derrick Johnson
Sammy Knight
Wesley/Woods (Forget who has the starting job, so whoever plays week 1 opposite Knight)

I put the O and D lines as a unit because I figure it's fair to rate them on Run Block/Pass Block for the O-Line and QB Pressure and Run stopping for the D Line. Sometimes it's hard to single out individual players, and many weeks guys will do nothing noticeable whatsoever.

I think I understand the concept, and I also think, for the purposes of picking a player of the year, it's a flawed concept.

Hypothetical situation.

Trent Green, because of numbness, or for any other reason, has a bad game against the Jets, gets voted off, then goes on to have his best season ever, and is in actuality the Chiefs player of the year.

But because he was voted off the first week of the season is eligible to win your contest.

I honestly don't think any of the superstars would get voted off the first few weeks. I'd expect maybe the D line or a CB/LB to go.

Most Chiefs Planet members know Green usually gets off to a slow start anyhoo.

I'd also expect that injuries might play a part in someone's removal. You really can't keep them if they're not around to play.

So this may turn into the "who didn't get injured all year: player of the year 2005"

i wish they had used voting like that for american idol...

there were some stinkers that stuck around almost to the end after several excellent singers were eliminated...

the stinkers should go first... :harumph:

You fail to understand the dynamics at work here. There is a whole lot of pent-up hatred that will get exercised before Green goes. Barring a game winning interception Wesley/Woods (Wesley is the starter) will be gone the first week. Kennison's second drop will cost him his slot. Bell can't miss much playing time. DV could wipe out the whole DL with a single quote about how well Eric Hicks takes a 1-3 start. The #2 cb should just walk away now. Besides, all the Green apologists would blame someone else, even if Green sucked. Green will get a bye for a couple of weeks.

I just used Green as an example.

Wesley could get voted off the first week, then go on to have a stellar season (I'm not saying he will, nor do I expect it, again just using him as an example), but because he was voted off the first week, even though he was the player that should win, he won't.
