Falcons cut Price
Wide receiver was entering third year of $37.5M deal

The Falcons and Peerless Price are through.

The team cut Price Tuesday on a day when NFL rosters had to be trimmed to 65. The wide receiver, who never lived up to expectations, was entering the third year of a $37.5 million contract with the team. Price lost his starting job at the start of training camp. He suffered a concussion two weeks ago in an exhibition loss to Tennessee and just returned to practice Monday.

Expect Jenkins to have a big year in the ATL. Price would be a good pick up at the right price.

I would take Price and/or Warrick over Mitchell any day.

IMO, he has shown more than Warrick or Mitchell.

I just don't think Vermeil wants a WR that hasn't had any time to practice in his system.

He show'ed that he could be a affective #2 guy with the right system and QB. Other than that he really doesnt have any upside at all and we don't have a legit #1 so he couldnt really be a legit #2.

At least with Warwick there is upside. Granted it is the same kind of upside that we have with Dante Hall, but it is upside none the less.

As far as grandpa not wanting someone who hasnt been in "his" system, I don't disagree with you, but I disagree with him.

I'd rather have Warrick as a #3 slot receiver then him as a #3 slot receiver. The problem with Price is he doesn't have enough physical attributes to be a #1 (he's too slow, not very quick, not very long either) and he'd just be a standard #2. He shined as #2 in Buffalo likely due to double teams on the other side of the field but I like our #2 options better.

This was expected. He had been demoted to 3rd string before preseason and then did absolutely nothing in the games played.

Oh, and Peerless Price > Freddie Mitchell

I'm not sure what the upside of Warrick is supposed to be. The only thing he's ever done is torch KC on one play, and all of a sudden Chiefs fans think he's the bee's knees. Besides, he was injured all of last year, and has been hobbled the entire pre-season.

Wow. He was the real deal as an excellent #2 WR. It seemed like everyone knew that he probably wasn't worth #1 $$ and the extra attention and pressure of being the #1 guy. Looks like everyone was right.

Vick, meanwhile, loses a weapon, which won't help his passing game any.

Absolutely NO to Warrick. I'm lukewarm on Price, would certainly rather have him over FredEx. Problem is, I would prefer that before TC, so we could see him work, now it's too late.

That is a real dig at Mitchell because watching Price every weak here in Atlanta I would say Price is a clone of Johnny Morton.

I'm not that high on Peerless after his bust in the ATL, but he was still a stud in BUF a few years ago, and if we could get him in for a look at a cheap price, then I'd be all for it...

Price would look great in a Chiefs uniform.

He struggled in Atlanta, but he had a glorified RB throwing him the ball

Also in KC he'd be a secondary option after Gonzo, Priest and Kennison in the passing game and could see a lot of single coverages like he did in Buffalo.

When I saw that he was cut, I thought, hell yeah Carl sign him up for cheap.

The problem with doing so is it could cost Samie Parker snaps. If Price can come in and be the #3 WR behind Parker thats one thing, but I think we owe Parker his shot.

He struggled in Atlanta, but he had a glorified RB throwing him the ball. Vick manages to find Alge Crumpler, who gets open and catches the ball. Price dropped passes and doesn't separate. As one poster mentioned, we already had Johnnie Morton.

Definitely true.

No, Mike Vick is not Joe Montana, but the fact of the matter is that Price has been fairly consistent producing at about last year's level, except for one big season in Buffalo in a contract year when Bledsoe played out of his head and threw for almost 4500 yards.

hey fools, Michael Jenkins is the No. 1 receiver for Atl, followed By Dez White, then followed by Brian Finneran, followed up with Roddy White.

That's another thing. I wouldnt' want him on this team simply because you'd have to listen to his constant bitching and moping around when every pass isn't thrown his way. He's always been a little crybaby like that even at Tennessee. Team gave him more than 10 million dollars and that's all he has to say.

He was never a weapon in Atlanta. This was a case of addition through subtraction for the Atlanta passing game.

Yes, and he doesn't do well fighting for the ball with a DB on this back. I thought Johnny Morton looked better than Price.

Yep if any of you get a chance to watch last years game against the Chiefs, watch Price give up on a route that lead to an interception and KC scoring right befor the half. Not to mention the drop balls in that game as well.

That game was typical of his performance all season long. The guy really stinks. I hate Johnny Morton in a Chiefs uniform, but I prefer his return over Price.
