IMO it's gong to take more than 9-7 to make the playoffs in the AFC.

It doesn't matter what your record is if you win your division.

I see the division pretty much the same way, except that I think we win 11 games, instead of 9. I don't think the Steelers make the playoffs, so I don't think we lose to them. I think the Patriots go 10-6 to win a weak AFC east. The Ravens and Bengals both go 9-7 in the north. I see the south the way he has it, but with Indy winning 11-12, and Jacksonville 10.

That's my guess at least. I think this'll be a strange year in the AFC. It wouldn't stun me to see a nearly new slate of playoff teams, with most of last year's top teams falling off.

Depends, he's pretty much saying the AFC East and NFC East are going to beat the crap out of us.

He's got the Chiefs and Chargers tied at the top of the AFC West at 9-7, which gets you in, and the Chargers don't get a WC slot (that goes to Steelers (11-5) and Jets (10-6).

I know. I'm saying that IMO it will take more than 9-7 to make the playoffs in the AFC, even as a division winner. I'd bet more like 10-6. Just my take.

I absolutely agree with you. The winner of the West will have 10-11 wins...

Don't count the Steelers out. Any team that has an excellent defense and can run the ball like they can, will be in the mix of things. If Big Ben suffers the "sophomore jinx" - and I think he will, they can always run the ball and play defense.

Que crappio. I agree with the win the AFC West part. Everything else is crap.

I heard both Bettis and Staley were hurt but I don't recall the injuries or how serious they were.

If true that might have a whole lot to do with Big Ben having a sophmore slump...

You are correct. Staley looks like he's going to miss some games and Bettis is a bit banged up and has already come out and said that he couldn't carry the load as much as he did last year.

Steelers site lists Verron Haynes as the starter then. Only other HB I saw on there.

Yup, that could **** up their year right quick...

Absolutely!

Did you read the box to the right on Dante Hall?

Dante Hall is the NFL's most dangerous return man. Two years ago he set an NFL record by scoring on a kick or punt return in four consecutive games, and last season he added two more runbacks for touchdown to his highlight tape. Now the Chiefs are creating additional opportunities for the sixth-year veteran to explode downfield. Along with the same punt- and kick-return duties, the 5'8", 187-pound Hall will regularly line up as a third or fourth wideout.

Uh......Doc.....This ain't nuthin' new.
And if you had been paying any attention, you'd have heard that the Chiefs want to use him less as a receiver, to save him for his return duties.

MO Ron!

This pick and projected finish of the AFC West reminds me of how critical our division games are. We usually expect or hope to at least split those games, win at home, lose on the road, in a competitive division. This year, the key advantage goes to any of the division rivals who can win any of their division games on the road.

In FFL news, the Steelers are reputed to be starting Willie Parker. Who?

Apparently, he had some stats late last year, and has ripped off 50 yarders in 2 preseason games this year....

If you play FF, and you've never heard of him, you need to pay better attention. "Fast Willie" Parker, reportedly runs a 4.28 40, similar size as Priest. I've already picked him up, nearly drafted him last round, but Homer convinced me to take the KC Df.
