He is the greatest receiver ever in the NFL. With the 15th pick the Chiefs selected Ethan Horton. A mere two years earlier the Chiefs selected Todd Blackledge and not Dan Marino.

What if the Chiefs drafted Marino and two years later drafted Rice? :hmmm: Something to think about I guess.

Makes me think why is Steadman in the Ring of Fame.

Problem with your scenario is that had we drafted Marino in '83, Rice would not have been available to in in '85. We actually had some pretty good receivers already in the early-mid 80s with Carson, Paige, Marshall. A better scenario would have been in '79 drafting Montana and Dwight Clark. In either scenario, we would also need to draft better offensive lineman than we did.

You guys think you've got it bad when it comes to thinking about the '85 draft? Guess who the Niners traded with to get the #16 pick in order to get Mr. Rice?

:shake: :banghead: :Lin:

Separately, I note that the '85 draft was hella good for for a few teams. Chris Doleman, Bruce Smith, Jerry Rice are all HOF types. A few others were very solid indeed for many years.

And, as usual, for about 50% of the teams, their fans can only wonder WTF they were thinking.

Jozwiak was a can't-miss prospect. No way would we want to pass up Jozwiak.
