View Full Version : PREDICTIONS, Week 1: Chiefs vs. Jets

Mr. Kotter
09-06-2005, 03:05 PM
Hard fought game comes down to a turn-over, midway 4th Quarter....DJ forces a Pennington fumble in Jet's territory. Three plays later, the Chief's drive a stake into the heart of the Jets....Green to Gonzalez from 12 yds away. Late Jet's TD proves meaningless.

Chief's 24, Jets 20.

I predict there will be fifty more of these prediction threads. And my prediction will still be 45 to 12 Chiefs destroy Jets and Penniston does not make it out of the game. The Jets will only muster 4 field goals due to a couple of big plays and some defensive penalties the refs will screw us on. One will be a defensive pass interference on Mcleon, but the D holds them out of the endzone. Priest will end up with 3 TD's and 171 total yards in three quarters. LJ will come in and rack up 1 TD and 137 rushing yards. Trent will hand off most of the day but will still hit Gonzo for 2 TD's. Tynes will hit a 45 yarder but miss a chipshot from the 20. Chiefs will stifle old man Martin for 56 yards for the day.

I wasn't dealing smack with my prediction.

IMO the Jets D will have no problem containing the KC passing game with man coverage on the WRs, allowing Gonzo to get his without breaking anything long.

NY will stack the box, making Priest pay for every yard he gets. I really hope to see LJ run against an actual pro D in a game that means something; I want to see him get a chance to prove he is the real deal.

KC will score some points, there is no shutting out that offense even if they are getting on in years.

KCs D has a lot to prove, the Jets will play a possession game with Martin breaking down the Chief line for long drives, keeping the KC o on the bench.

Surtain will find out how much easier it is to be a great cover corner when you have a D-line that provides constant pressure on the QB. Miami gave him that luxury, IMO KC will not.

So you Jets lovers really think Chad and his bad shoulder are going to come into Arrowhead on opening day and walk out winners. Check the stats on cherry QB's in their first game at TERRORHEAD!! DJ and Bell will knock the shit out of him. He will think we have 15 guys on the field, Gun will be blitzing him so much. Jets best D player held out all summer and will be ineffective as the rest of the Jets D. Priest racked up a hundred yard game last opener and that was in Denver. Jets might be good this year, but their Offense is not going to scare anyone. Thanks to arrowhead louder for reminding us to cheer-the stadium will be rockin.

And yes it is insane to dream about football-Vanilla.

With who? David Barrett and gimpy Ty Law? Their best pass rusher is going to be an afterthought, too.

Their safeties are EXTREMELY questionable. I'll be shocked if Gonzalez doesn't go off for 7 catches and 100 yards.

NY will stack the box, making Priest pay for every yard he gets. I really hope to see LJ run against an actual pro D in a game that means something; I want to see him get a chance to prove he is the real deal.

Yeah, we've seen how well defenses fare against KC when they stack the box. Heck, the Jets probably won't get an opportunity to do that, since the Chiefs basically run spread formations so much it makes it impossible to do.

KCs D has a lot to prove, the Jets will play a possession game with Martin breaking down the Chief line for long drives, keeping the KC o on the bench.

They'd be playing right into our hands. Our run defense is the best part of the D. They have new faces on the offensive line and they're installing a new offense. They won't be in sync.

Surtain will find out how much easier it is to be a great cover corner when you have a D-line that provides constant pressure on the QB. Miami gave him that luxury, IMO KC will not.

More tripe. The Chiefs had more sacks than Miami last year.

After looking at everything, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say:

Chiefs 31
Jets 17

I think the offense starts slow, Green will have 1 pick. Pennington though will be rattled and throw 2.

In the end, the Jets try to stack the box and play Tony G straight up. One of our WR's will have a BIG day.

The Chiefs defense gets after Pennington, and gives up less than 100 yards to Martin on the ground.

As long as we see consistent progress from the defense, week to week....I think we'll be good--with potential to be very good. The first month of the season will tell the tale for me.
