Tonight the pumps are chugging along. All the waste water in NOLA is being pumped into Lake Pontchartrain. The water is fouled with disease, oil, heavy metals, debris, etc.

How will they save Lake Pontchartrain? Or will they have to dig a trench to the ocean to drain it too?

Man, what an ecological nightmare.

Should be some good fishing there, sharks, bodies, stereos, cars, aligators. Yeah they will probably figure somthing out since it is a giant sess pool of shit now.

The lake dumps into the ocean. The only other choice was the mississippi, which wouldn't work since it's saltwater.

Here's the US Geological Survey website about the lake. I think this water dumping could be an unprecidented, nasty and serious ecological problem, because of the toxic sediment. Lots of nasty stuff will be floating in there for a real long time. Won't be able to boat, or fish, or swim. It'll be like a "Lake Chernobyl." What a shame.
