"put jet win behind us and get into Raider mode"
'had victory monday..some good some bad about that"

Believes it was the best opening day performance since he's been in KC
Thinks Jets are best opening day opponent they've faced.

Crowd, Heat, Improved defense all took part

Patrick surtain, Sammy Knight and Kendrell bell all played very well.

Derrick Johnson made some rookie mistakes, but made great plays.

Complimented Colquit.....45+ net on 2 punts

New additions to team really contributed.

Other players stepped up with improvement

+2 in turnovers....beat Jets at their own game

Defense did NOT have a single penalty....huge improvement from last year

2 young Olinemen stepped up and played well when Roaf went out...Thinks Black is a LT of the future. Bober plays LG, C, RG and RT...stepped up.

Defense did alot of great things
no rushing 1st downs
held martin under 3ypc
blames the pass yardage on controling Run

Injuries
Roaf's hamstring not as bad as they thought it was..even last night. Will be labeled after wednesday.

Sims going to carolina for a 2nd opinion....specialist to read his MRI....Hopefull for "minimal amount of time"

Tony Richardson ALOT!!! better today.....Said Richardson status has been upgraded.

Thinks Surtain will be "FINE"

Iowanian
09-13-2005, 12:00 PM
Telling coaches to "prepare for the worst"....and if these guys play, its a bonus.

Victory Monday gives coaches more time to prepare. have prepared in teh offseason.

Have beaten Raiders 4 times in a row, but its been tough every time. Raiders 9-1 in last 10 years in home openers....Chiefs only team to Beat them in home opener in that timeframe..1997.

Can't fail in the redzone..must put points on board when oportunity is there.....can't miss FGs....must score.

Thinks Raiders are better than last year....Jordan and Moss improve their Offense....have big homefield advantages Chiefs had sunday...Chiefs must have toughness(mental)

Wants to see Defense put back to back good showings to believe it. Stack them up.

questions
1. how bad did you think the Roaf injury was?
Could have popped and rolled up.....Didn't...MRI indicates its only a "strain"....aggrivated back also.

2.Thinks Richardson will be ready to go Tomorrow

3. have some FAs working out right now....plan to do that every tuesday, just to stockpile potential players....last week they worked out WRs.

Do the same thing with Oakland that we did against the Jets, take away the run first.

Collins will make mistakes on his own. Put a safety over the top of Moss like New England did and he'll keep trying to force it in there. The turnovers will come.

Says Priest has EARNED the right to be the starter....thinks he can do today, what he has in past....is the starter.

Knows Oakland will be "intense atmosphere"...like here Sunday....only there...at night. Chiefs have beaten the Raiders in big games, at night before.

Thinks raiders are a 'contending FB team'.....Chiefs must EARN that 2-0.

I disagree. They paid Jordan good money to run the ball. Norv Turner has always been known for running his backs hard. And, they'll want to keep our Offense off the field to protect their terrible defense. No doubt they'll take their shots with Moss, but if we stop their running game....IMO we win.
