It's true, actually. Sacks are overrated. Don't get me wrong, they're GOOD, but other than strip-sacks, they're not THAT momentus.

Don't get me wrong. Overrated doesn't mean it's not good.

But what's the difference between a sack and a 3 yard run on 3rd and 8? Nothing, 99% of the time.

What's the difference between a sack and a 3 yard loss on 1st down. 'bout 4 yards, mebbe.

Also, alot of times player X gets credit for a sack when either another player along the line caused a disruption or had the pressure that really "caused" the sack, but he gets no credit for it.

Or, if the DBs provide excellent coverage and a DL gets a sack after 5 seconds, it's good for the team, but overrated in terms of player X having a sack. It's not like Lawrence Taylor blowing up a play after 2 seconds.

Sacks are good, BUT even a good defensive team will get an average of maybe 3 per game, where there are usually like 60+ defensive snaps.
