Let's stop with the patsey coaches.....The new Royals coach should be Lou Piniella and the new Chiefs coach should be Jon Gruden....unless they can get Bill Cowher. Discuss amongst yourselves.....

Why would Lou want to come here? He wanted out of Tampa Bay, who's payroll is lower than ours.

Do you really think Gruden or Cowher are even remotely available?

Yeah, I'd love Gruden here, but no way the Bucs let him go.

I want KC to bring in a college coach.

The Royals are in The Onion. Letterman has been taking stabs at them in his monologue. The nation laughs when their name is brought up.

No coach will want to manage that team. But, more importantly- the Royals won't be spending any money on getting a reputable coach ever.

Your quirky neighbor who waters his plants in his wife's apron has as good a chance to be manager of the Royals as anyone.

That's sad. I remember when they were looked up to by everyone and things were great. And, I mean great.

Kirk Ferenz is the next chiefs coach, and Buddy Bell will baby sit for another year, at least.

Buddy Bell was not hired to be an interm manager. He is here for a while. And Ferenz is a great football coach..

I'm not keen on picking up a college coach without them going through the ranks, being an assistant and all that.

Agreed...we don't need to spend 3 or 4 years teaching a coach how to be a coach.

I lived in Cincinnati when he went there with Marge Schott. Seems to me he won a world series or something. :hmmm:

Ferentz coached in the NFL under Belichek before going to Iowa - he is of nick Saben ilk, they where all on the browns staff together.

Coaches I'd be happy for the Chiefs to take a chance on:

Ron Rivera - D.C. for the Bears- coached w/Philly under Reid. Reid was grooming him to be Philly's D.C. for the future. He's very bright.

Steve Fairchild - O.C. for the Rams - would fit in nicely with KC's system. Has a bright future in coaching.

Mike Singletary - L.C. for the Ravens - I've heard nothing but great things about him as a coach. A great motivator and leader. Deserves a chance, maybe not as a head coach yet, but should at least be given a coordinator role.

Ken Wisenhunt - O.C. for the Steelers - Also has a bright future, very innovative and look at what he's accomplished out of some of the younger players.

Meeks - D.C. for Indy- I know I'll get hammered for this one, but he's been under some very good coaches and the players seem to be buying into his philosophy and it's gelling for them now.

Isn't he that guy who can't beat Iowa State?

I think so. I wouldn't want him on our coaching staff. :)

The only reason he's "assistant head coach" is because he had to get a promotion from his linebacker coach at Baltimore. Tack on the "assistant head coach" moniker and he's released from his Ravens contract.

I wanted Nick Saban in a BIG way. Look at the job he has done with the Dolphins so far with limited talent. Great coach and hes going to be hugely successful in the NFL someday.
