View Full Version : What music do we all listen to?/Tell me what to buy

10-01-2005, 12:50 AM
So I'm looking to spend a gift certificate on some good music and need some suggestions. I listen to all sorts of stuff but have been more into alternative, indie rock, and the like lately.

And just so this thread doesn't die quickly, name some of your favorite groups or just the last few groups on your playlist or whatever. Last five bands on my playlist:

The Decemberists
Death Cab For Cutie
Bright Eyes
The Postal Service
Neutral Milk Hotel

Just because the music is not mainstream doesn't make it good music............just in case you had forgot.

Motley Crue

I never said anything like that. Chances are though that I will have heard of most of the mainstream stuff people suggest to me and I like to try out new stuff. Plus, those just happened to be the last five bans that came up. I have plenty of mainstream stuff on my playlist.

Might be a bit to mellow for my tastes but I will sill probably check out one of his albums. ACL is pretty badass by the way. Always wanted to try and go to one of the shows but I hear geting tickets are kinda a pain in the ass.

I know they do a good butchering of Genesis' Land of Confusion on that album... :) Just kidddding.

I think I'm a bit more mellow than the majority here, maybe (I say as I listen to "Intruder" by Peter Gabriel...), but the song I can't get out of my head right now is "Black Horse & The Cherry Tree" by KT Tunstall.

Check out Sahara Hotnights' "Kiss and Tell." It's an all girl band from Scandinavia that plays a form of pop punk that sounds like a cross between Blondie, the Ramones, and Josie and the Pussycats.

Look on this play list, for some good stuff.

If you can't find something you like on this large play list from Cyprus Ave. you don't like music.
