8. Barry Word/Christian Okoye, Chiefs
This duo is certainly the biggest pair on the list. Both Word (left) and Okoye topped 250 pounds and Chiefs coach Marty Schottenheimer loved to pound defenses with a heavy dose of both backs. They carried the ball over 200 times apiece in 1990, combining for 1,820 yards.

Damn. Even without the bellbottoms and lava lamps, you can't get any more 70's than this:

The game in 1990 at Arrowhead against Detroit when Word broke the Chiefs single-game rushing record was awesome. Barry Sanders had a pretty good game that day too.

I loved those white-on-white road unis. Wish they'd take all the red pants and burn 'em.

Here's hoping another possibly great Chief's duo makes the list...

Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson, who can forget the duo that led the Chief's to their super bowl XL victory? Together rushing for over 2200 yards...:grovel:

Ah the good ol' days.

Up the gut for three yards and a cloud of Astroturf.

I'd trade back to those days. Great running game and a dominant defense (defense being the key).

I miss ol' 90's smashmouth football as well.......

Too bad they couldn't come up with a QB-receiver combo to go along with everything else.

As opposed to not being able to score points in the play-offs? Tough choice. :hmmm:

That's the truth... loved playing with them. Always had a real nice 35/5 run-pass ratio most of the time... :)

Yeah, I loved that

I just think our strong offense and now-improving :grovel: defense gives us a better chance than we used to have. If I had to choose, it's easier to lose 38-35 than it is to lose 10-7 because your RBs are called Donnell Bennett, Rashaan Shehee, Bam Morris and Frank Moreau, and your offense is run by uber-conservative Paul Hackett and your HC is married to a run-up-the-middle philosophy. Call me hard-headed, but I still don't forget those days. Pick your poison, but as much as our D rocked back then, our O is at least that good now.
