What is the history behind this guy. Why are poll options dedicated to him? Please, I cannot become a loyal follower without increased understanding.

Understanding is not required.

Worship and slavish devotion is adequate.

Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Gaz is.

You have to see it for yourself.

Just as long as I don't have to befriend talking lions, metal, and hay, get kidnapped by evil witches, and travel umpteen miles on a yellow brick road just to be disappointed to find a man behind a curtain. Well, I guess that would depend on the man. :hmmm:

*** Boring answer warning ***

Gaz seemed to have a penchant for reason and moderation in his views on certain topics and threads from way back. So one day (don't know who) someone started posting polls with a final option of "Whatever Gaz says"... which lead to many, many variations on the theme.

I was wondering yesterday on the Halloween thread where the "Im going to dress up like Gaz" option was.

My guess on who started that would have to be Rain Man. He is the poll guru.

I think the Gaz option pre-dates Rain man

I once posted a poll. The 3rd choice was “Bite me, Gaz, I don’t have to answer your stinkin’ poll.” All my polls after that had variations on the “Bite me, Gaz” theme. Folks adopted some permutation of Gaz + Bite as “None of the Above.”

It has just kind of evolved from there.

Only a select few of us have ever met Gaz. He doesn't mingle with the masses. One day, if you are worthy, you will receive the call.

I myself have never met the great and powerful Gaz. Should that day come, it will be like hitting the Powerball X 2.

Well lets find ourselves lucky that there has been no mention of Buffy The Vampire Slayer in this thread. Oops!

P.S. I think Gaz was the one with the thing for her. If I am wrong i'm sorry.

Vito Gazzoni was one of the early NFL pioneers. He became somewhat of an icon among thinking men.
