Here we go again.

HB - Holmes vs. Ronnie Brown - Brown is gaining steam after a slow start, and is averaging a little more than 4 yards per carry, and can apparently catch, too. Probably posts up better against Priest than most, and will get better each game. Both teams have strong backups, though Miami's is more at risk of dropping out of society. 6/4
FB - Richardson vs. Heath Evans - Evans was a backup at Seattle for four years before joining Miami this year. Appears to be a pure blocking back with only four touches this year. Richardson was a pro bowler last year and is more versatile, and wins this battle easily. 8/2
QB - Green vs. Gus Frerotte. Ouch. Just...ouch. Frerotte is capable of a good game on occasion, but Green is a pro bowler. 9/1
WR - Kennison vs. Chris Chambers. Kennison is a true #1 guy, but so is Chambers. 3/7
WR - Boerigter(?) vs. Marty Booker. Assuming Parker won't be around this week. Boerigter has a good chance of shocking some people, but Booker is far more proven. 2/8
TE - Gonzalez vs. Randy McMichael - The wife beater is probably not quite Gonzalez, but he's close. Let's call it even. 5/5
LT - Roaf vs. Damion McIntosh - McIntosh is a former Charger third-round pick who's had an odd career path bouncing between the inactive list and starting. Nothing special, but workmanlike. Roaf is a ten-time pro bowler. 9/1
LG - Waters vs. Jeno James - James is a six-year veteran in his third year as a starter (second with Miami). Former sixth-round choice. Waters is a pro bowler who's not yet peaked. 8/2
C - Wiegman vs. Seth McKinney - McKinney is a four-year Dolphin in his second year as a starter, former third-round draft choice. Call it even since I have no idea who he is. 5/5
RG - Shields vs. Rex Hadnot - Hadnot is a sixth-round choice who managed to seize the starting RG spot as a rookie. Potential up and comer? Shields is a ten-time pro bowler who has not played like it so far. 7/3
RT - Black vs. Stockar McDougle - Enormous, solid right tackle at the peak of his career. Former 1st round choice by Detroit. Not a pro bowler, but rates ahead of Black at the moment, particularly since Black has been shuffled around a lot. 2/8
K - Tynes vs. Olindo Mare - Very similar stats so far this year. Tynes has settled in and is kicking very well, but Mare's been kicking since Ponce De Leon was Miami's coach. Advantage to the veteran at the moment. 4/6
P - Colquitt vs. Donnie Jones - Jones is a second-year guy who kicked poorly last year, but is doing well this year (at least statistically). He was good enough to actually be drafted in the 7th round. Colquitt's average is not good at all right now, but he causes muffs. Have to give the short-term advantage to Miami at the moment. 3/7
KR/PR - Hall vs. Wes Welker - Welker is a reasonable return guy, but not spectacular. Hall is better statistically and more of a threat. 8/2
FS - Wesley vs. Lance Schulters - Schulters is a solid veteran and made a pro bowl once several years ago. Wesley produces more turnovers (28 in 5+ years vs. 21 in 7+ years) and more tackles, but we all know he's lost out there right now. Call it even. 5/5
SS - Knight vs. Tebucky Jones - Longtime Patriot Jones is a hitter, but a low-turnover guy (13 in 7+ years). Knight is a big hitter and ball hawk (45 in 8+ years). Advantage Knight. 8/2
CB - Surtain vs. Travis Daniels. Daniels is a rookie fourth-round pick. He picked off a Jake Plummer pass in Week 1, but that's like shooting fish in a barrel. Surtain is an all-pro at his career peak. 10/0
CB - Warfield (?) vs. Sam Madison - Will it be Warfield? A gimpy McCleon? George Washington's younger brother DeWayne? Who knows? We're going to have a rusty player or a backup in there. Madison is a multiple pro bowler. 0/10
OLB - Johnson vs. Channing Crowder - Matchup of rookies, both of whom we liked on draft day. Crowder has produced 21 tackles vs. Johnson's 41. Advantage DJ. 7/3
OLB - Bell vs. Junior Seau - 12-time pro bowler, but hasn't made it since 2002. Still productive, still probably gets excited about making a tackle 12 yards downfield on 3rd and 3. Still outproducing Bell. 3/7
MLB - Mitchell vs. Zach Thomas - I've heard that their MLB is pretty good. Five-time pro bowler, but missed it last year. Mitchell has made astounding strides and is actually becoming pretty good, but give a big advantage to the veteran right now. 2/8
DE - Hicks vs. Kevin Carter - Heh,heh. Dick hates Kevin Carter. 11-year veteran with declining skills, but still a strong pass rusher. Hicks is a veteran with declining skills....what, you're expecting more? 2/8
DE - Allen vs. David Bowens (?) - If supermodel Jason Taylor is out, this will be good news for us, even if Roaf tends to swallow small pass rushers. Bowens has been a career backup, but produced 7 sacks last year with Dolphins, so should not be underestimated. He's very small at 265 lbs., which is just a large snack for Roaf. Did Allen have a breakout game last week or a fluke? Hopefully, the former. Advantage Allen. 7/3
DT - Browning vs. Keith Traylor - Holy cow. Traylor's still in the league? Two very different guys - Browning's more of a mobile pass rusher and Traylor is essentially a 337 lb. pile of goo that causes detours. Big piles of goo are valuable in the middle of the line, though. 3/7
DT - Dalton vs. Vonnie Holliday. Holliday? VONNIE HOLLIDAY? As we all know, he's good for one monster game per year, so our odds are 15/16ths that he'll be a complete nonfactor. It's interesting that he's now an undersized DT at 288 lbs. Dalton has no stats at all but has been consistently collapsing pockets. Gimme Dalton any day. 7/3
Coaching - Your call. I can't figure out our coaching staff.

Totals

Offense - Chiefs 64, Dolphins 46
Special Teams - Chiefs 15, Dolphins 15
Defense - Dolphins 56, Chiefs 54

I expected to us to have more of an advantage, to be honest, though the defense is close.

Edit: I corrected a transposed score for Sammy Knight.

shouldnt we be comparing our O with their D, and vice-versa?

ETA: sorry, I see you've done that at the bottom! :thumb:

Yes, I should. But I'm too lazy to think that deeply about it, and the comparisons are more obtuse, and thus harder.

I hope so. The left side will be open all day long if they do.

Yeah, it would be nice. Holliday could finally start earning his Chiefs paychecks this week.

Taylor out would be huge for us...Ferrotte is streaky, but usually self-destructs...if he picks our secondary apart then we are hopeless

I'm feeling pretty good about finally getting a win in Florida.

The last 3 QB's we have faced have looked like league MVP's. Maybe Warfield can help, but I doubt it. If Warfield plays and looks good, what does that say about Vermeil?

The thing that worries me most about this game is the weapons the Dolphins have in the passing game. Maybe they don't have a specific WR that really stands out like a TO or a Santana Moss, but they have a pretty decent collection of guys such as Chambers, Booker, McMicheals who can make plays, especially against a Chiefs secondary that is struggling (to put it nicely).

Also something that could benefit the Chiefs this game is the massive penalty problems the Dolphins have had.

2 weeks ago in Buffalo they had 18 penalties, last week in Tampa they had 10 or 11.

Gus is not even close to McNabb or Brunell.

His completion percentage is around 53 and he has 8 turnovers this year.

From reading posts at finheaven, they all pretty much hate him. Apparently he can't hit the broadside of a barn.

Yes, they are all bitching about that at finheaven too. Their D isn't that heavily penalized, but they've had a TON of offensive penalties, especially on the offensive line.

Brunell isn't that good, agains Dallas before the 5 minute mark in the 4th he had 170 yard and 1 pick. Against the Seahawks he had 226 yards. He played well against Denver when they didn't have Charles and most of those yards were at the end of the game. He is playing better than expected, but he isn't near as good as he looked against us.

(1.) Dallas -- you're taking out two of best throws any QB in the NFL has made all year. Unfair. Brunell displayed his arm strength AND accuracy here.

(2.) Seattle -- solid game. That's more than you expect from Gus.

(3.) Denver -- great game. Your analogy of where AND why the yards came is simply incorrect. He tore them up like he did us, and they're SUPPOSED to be good.

1. McNabb

Is Rex Hadnot related to ex-Chief James Hadnot?

I read through the whole thing looking for some funnies....

And eventually there was:

Traylor is essentially a 337 lb. pile of goo that causes detours. Big piles of goo are valuable in the middle of the line, though.

DT - Dalton vs. Vonnie Holliday. As we all know, he's good for one monster game per year, so our odds are 15/16ths that he'll be a complete nonfactor.

I enjoyed that.

Fla streak might be broken, of course we could be playing in rain storm.
