View Full Version : Christmas music? F***ING CHRISTMAS MUSIC????

I am a Christmas junkie. I love all the trappings, including Christmas music.

But this is absolutely nuts: A local radio station today began playing nothing but Christmas music 24/7. IIRC, this station the past few years has done this beginning the day after Thanksgiving, which makes perfect sense. BUT NOV. 1??????????

Totally insane.

And BTW, this is one of the stations that normally plays those 70s wimp-rock songs I like (see other thread).

For what it's worth, I despise Christmas music with a fiery passion. I don't mind it on Christmas Day and while shopping, but I would rather just go on with normal music other than that.

They start selling Christmas decorations about two weeks before Halloween gets here. As soon as they start selling out of Halloween stuff, the condense it down and start on the Christmas stuff. Pretty soon, there will no longer be Black Fridays after Thanksgiving. I can see November 1 becoming the official first day of Christmas shopping season.

We haven't had any of our radio stations start on the Christmas music yet though.

Thanksgiving--
Dad goes to friend's mom's house
Mom goes to boyfriend's mom's house
Brother goes to his MIL's house

I usually get brought leftovers.

Christmas--
Christmas at mom's week before or weekend before
Christmas at dad's usually about the same time frame as mom's
Brother does Christmas with just his wife and kids on Christmas morning. By that time, I've already had Christmas with them twice at mom's and dad's. I have to split the presents for my nieces and nephew, so they will have something from Aunt LeAnn at both places.

Christmas Day. Just another day.

Yeah can't say im a fan of listing to that shit over and over. I have no problem with Christmas at all. Just can't stand the music.

The worst shit is when country is combined with Christmas music thereby creating the ultimate bad music.

I own 2 radio stations in Western Michigan. Being the first radio station in the market has proved to be a gimmick that will help you win ratings points and pull in big advertising dollars. The problem is that stations are pulling the trigger earlier and earlier, and the ploy is losing its effectiveness.

I have to own up that if I could get by with leaving the outside lights up I'd do it,there's nothing that gives me more frustration than fighting with them every year.

I don't really mind it all. The only thing I dislike about the Christmas season is having to wait longer for things. Traffic is always worst, and people go out to eat more.

It is just a product of what we have all created.

Don't cry for me. I usually get invited to go with both mom or dad on Thanksgiving. I would just feel weird going because it's not my family, and the only people I would know in either case are my parents. Didn't mean for that to be a sob story. I can sleep in, watch a football game, then eat leftovers that night. It's actually not bad at all. :)

The only Christmas song I like...

You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch
You really are a heel,
You're as cuddly as a cactus, you're as charming as an eel, Mr. Grinch,
You're a bad banana with a greasy black peel!

You're a monster, Mr. Grinch,
Your heart's an empty hole,
Your brain is full of spiders, you have garlic in your soul, Mr. Grinch,
I wouldn't touch you with a thirty-nine-and-a-half foot pole!

You're a foul one, Mr. Grinch,
You have termites in your smile,
You have all the tender sweetness of a seasick crocodile, Mr. Grinch,
Given a choice between the two of you I'd take the seasick crocodile!

You're a rotter, Mr. Grinch,
You're the king of sinful sots,
You're a heart of dead tomato washed with moldy purple spots, Mr. Grinch,
You're a three decker sauerkrauten toadstool sandwich with arsenic sauce!

You nauseate me, Mr. Grinch,
With a nauseous (super not?),
You're a crooked dirty jockey and you drive a crooked horse, Mr. Grinch,
Your soul is an appalling dump heap overflowing with the most disgraceful
assortment of rubbish imaginable mangled up in tangled up knots!

You're a foul one, Mr. Grinch,
You're a nasty wasty skunk,
Your heart is full of unwashed socks, your soul is full of gunk, Mr. Grinch,
The three words that best describe you are, and I quote,
"Stink, stank, stunk

Neither do I. I like getting up early on Black Friday (the ONLY day I like getting early, or just not sleeping the night before) to hit the sales. I've never seen anything funnier in my life than adults racing (literally running) down the isles with shopping carts, usually towards the electronics deparment. Hilarious!

Yep. And the deals aren't even good. Best Buy, Walmart, Sears, etc...they've got the public conned into thinking Black Friday is offering "good" deals, when in reality, they are just selling you cheap junk for a low price.

Indeed. The black friday "deals" set up the rest of the year for the bottom end of Electronics.

For instance, lets say they sell a DVD player for $20 this year that is normally $49.99. After christmas, that will set the standard for cheap DVD Players, $20.00. Nevermind the damn thing will probably break within 6 months, "I got a deal!"

Couple that with the hassle of waiting in massive lines for shit, forget it.

Yep. Reminds me of my previous jobs. I worked at a daycare for nearly 5 years. I only had a couple of parents who ever got upset about anything

. When I worked in retail, I saw irate customers nearly every day, yelling and screaming over a few bucks. Kinda makes you think where peoples priorities are.
