Inactives aren't even declared until gameday.

Indeed.
What is your gut feeling: will Priest start?
On my fantasy team I have Mike Anderson(bye), Stephen Jackson(bye), Marion Barber(bye) and Priest.
You can see I'm fooked but being able to start Priest would help.
So whats the word in Chief-land, will Priest play this weekend?

I have to believe he'll be active. He may not play, but I doubt we hold him out.

Who knows though. His doctor's appointment was yesterday afternoon, maybe the diagnosis was bad enough that he's out.

CBS tends to be pretty fatalistic about whether our not guys will play. Your best bet is to check www.fanball.com about 11 am on Sunday and it will list out who's active/inactive (assuming you can set your lineups that close to the game).

CBS Sportsline is usually spot on with their reports, and I don't see them making such a definitive announcement without knowing for sure.

At the same time, Holmes just saw the doctor late yesterday, so I don't know how they would know this already.

Priest sat out the entire week leading up to the Texans game last year and played.

Trent sat out the entire week leading up to the Raiders game last year with a rib injury.

Both played.

LATEST NEWS

(Updated 11/04/2005).
FANTASY ANALYSIS
Holmes flew to California for a second opinion on what the team terms "mild head trauma." Owners with the veteran hope his condition isn't serious and won't keep him off the field for an extended period.

We really like this site for hosting our league however they tend to the cautious side on injuries. Two weeks ago they said Randy Moss was definetely out then he went for 100+ yards and a TD or two.

Q&A with PRIEST HOLMES

Nov 02, 2005, 3:48:20 PM

OAKLAND CONFERENCE CALL

Q: How are you doing after the head injury sustained last week?

HOLMES: We are still waiting on some of the diagnosis of the images from the MRI but I definitely know once that is done we will have a better idea of how exactly I can proceed with the rest of the week. I am feeling good. I mean its one of those things where its not an injury where you can physically see and determine. Its one where you have to go through different tests then once that is determined they will do everything to protect me but make sure I can get out there as quickly as possible.
Q: Will you be able to play this Sunday vs. Oakland?
HOLMES: I am not sure because most of that stuff has not been determined. I know the doctors are taking every precaution in looking at all of the images from the MRI and once that is done they are going to give me the word lets get suited up.

If memory serves, they were looking at possible nerve damage in his neck. If that is indeed the case, don't be surprised, from a purely medically precautionary standpoint, to see Priest sidelined.

Priest should dress, but not play unless LJ gets hurt.

LJ needs a game by himself to get established.

If that's the case then Priest should sit. That's serious chit. No sense risking career or much worse over one game. :shake:

Raider Week gamesmanship. Just like 'Trent may not start', and Roaf being downgraded, etc. I think Priest and Trent and Roaf and Surtain will all play, but that's my opinion.

Lets hope some of this injury talk is gamesmanship. The alternative looks like a sure-fire LOSS to me:

Todd Collins, LJ, Richardson
Black, Waters, Wiegmann, Shields, Welbourn
Kennison, Horn
Gonzalez

Hicks, Dalton, Wilkerson, Allen
Bell, Mitchell, DJ
Warfield, Sapp
Knight, Wesley

Could you provide a link to where you got this information from. I've checked KCStar.com and I don't see anything about Priest being inactive and I've checked Sportsline.com also, same thing.

Last night on NFL Live (ESPN) they said Priest was likely to play this week.

Of those you point out, the only real possibilities I think are LJ, Horn, and Wilkerson(which is fine by me). I thought I'd heard that Washington would start at CB, if Surtain can't play. But I do think Trent, Roaf, and Surtain will play.

Priest Holmes, RB KC

News: KCChiefs.com reports head coach Dick Vermeil confirmed that Priest Holmes (head) isn't expected to play in Week 9. The veteran missed practice Friday and was still "on his way back" from California, where he visited a specialist.

Analysis: Larry Johnson will start in Holmes' absence. Owners with the veteran hope his condition isn't serious and won't keep him off the field for an extended period.

From Fanball.com....this is good news for me. I have LJ on my roster and need to start someone in place of McGahee who has a bye this week.

Chiefs: Holmes downgraded to doubtful

11/04/05 04:10 PM
THE NEWS
Chiefs running back Priest Holmes will be officially downgraded to doubtful for this week's game against the Raiders because of the concussion he sustained in week eight, a team source confirmed for Fanball.com after practice on Friday. "I haven't [gotten the doctor's report] but [team president] Carl Peterson and other people have talked to him," head coach Dick Vermeil said. "It's doubtful." Holmes, who is on his way back from California from a visit with a neurological specialist, missed all three team practices this week.

Our View
Larry Johnson, your table is set. Last year, Johnson served as the Chiefs' feature back in both games against the Raiders and totaled 296 combined yards and four touchdowns. Assuming Holmes is indeed inactive on Sunday, L.J. is a must play.

Word out of Arrowhead today from EVERY station I've listened to says Priest is VERY DOUBTFUL for Sunday, as is Roaf. McPasson and Surtain will be game time decisions.

I would like to see how LJ performes while Priest is inactivated.

the way we rotate the 2 RBs simply murdered the will of their plays, personal records are still issue of how a player performes on the field, and the sharing of the carries kills the chances of both of them, especially LJ who wants to take a position in the league.

give him couples of full games to prove himself, we got nothing to lose with the recent performance on O.
