Okla. High School Hoops Team Loses 112-2 Sat Nov 5, 6:21 PM ET

EARLSBORO, Okla. - The Hanna High School basketball team can take some consolation: It didn't get shut out.

It did, however, lose 112-2 on Friday night to Earlsboro.

"It was embarrassing to watch," Earlsboro coach Jim Walling told The Oklahoman. "But you can't just tell your kids not to score. I've been coaching 27 years and have never been involved in something like this."

The Wildcats led 42-0 after one quarter and 73-2 at halftime. Walling pulled his starters in the second half, and game officials kept a running clock, stopping it only for free throws.

Each player on Earlsboro's 10-man boys' roster scored. Seven players finished in double figures

Yeah, I've seen some teams get run up on... but I can't even imagine how you get held to 2 points. Most people could shoot 50 shots from 25 feet out and hit at least 1 of them.

You gotta imagine what Hanna's coach said to the team once they got back to the locker room.

Pick yourselves off the ground, dust off your skirts, and open your mouths because every team is going to do this to you for the rest of the season, girls.

Memo to Hanna High's coach: Scrap that spinner defense.

Damn, what a guy. Pulled his starters in the 2nd half. Must have been worried with only a 42 point lead at quarter. Still a bit spooked after Hanna broke broke loose for 2 in the second quarter, so he waited until the 2nd half to pull the starters.

My guess is there was pressing of either full court or half court variety going on for most of the first half too.

Without knowing the circumstances, I think it's sad that they would even draw attention to such a story. Those kids already were humiliated, now a NATIONAL story has to take pot shots as well? These are kids for Christ sakes.

Isn't there a mercy rule in high school?

He pulled his starters...
They let the clock run all the time, they do not do that..
Would have been great though if it was your rival school...

That other team should not be playing, me thinks...

It not like football, they only have so many players on the bench they can put out there.

Why all this negative talk? Where's the headline "Oklahoma School Wins 112-2"????

My daughters 7th grade basketball team won their first game 62-0.

I felt bad for the other team but they were just terrible. Must have been the same here.
