If you think T.O. would be the cure for what ails this team and city, read this:

"Words Can Hurt: The Eagles Decide to Suspend Owens"

You'd think someone making $218,750 per game could temper his public opinions some.

<A name=271744>Eagles | Owens - Eagles Career Over
Sun, 6 Nov 2005 08:01:13 -0800ESPN's John Clayton (http://www.kffl.com/link/125) reports, in his opinion, Philadelphia Eagles (http://www.kffl.com/team/29/nfl) WR Terrell Owens (http://www.kffl.com/player/1608/nfl) has burned his final bridge and he will never play for the Eagles (http://www.kffl.com/team/29/nfl) again.

<A name=271736>Eagles | Owens had a Fight with Douglas
Sun, 6 Nov 2005 06:31:31 -0800Mark Eckel, of the Trenton Times, reports Philadelphia Eagles (http://www.kffl.com/team/29/nfl) WR Terrell Owens (http://www.kffl.com/player/1608/nfl) had a fistfight with former defensive end and current team ambassador Hugh Douglas (http://www.kffl.com/player/1450/nfl). The fight occurred in front of several of his teammates. According to one of the sources the Owens-Douglas fight "was like WWE Smackdown." Another source said both men threw at least two punches during the altercation and when it was over Owens challenged QB Donovan McNabb (http://www.kffl.com/player/1475/nfl) first and then everyone else in the room saying, "You want some. Anyone else want some." The Eagles (http://www.kffl.com/team/29/nfl) refused to comment about the situation, other than the statement that revealed Owens' suspension. Owens and Douglas have been at odds since training camp and almost got into an altercation in an elevator at Lehigh University.

That makes sense. I figured it must have been more than just his comments. T.O. is done for the season. I respect the Eagle organization. Most teams would not have handled T.O.'s outlandish behavoir as well as the Eagles have.

I'm not a big fan of overpriced free agents. Especially ones with more emotional baggage than Monica Lewinsky...

He'd fit in well on the Raiders, Vikings, or Bucs...

I say Arizona should grab him, thats what T.O. deserves. That or maybe back with San Fran

Sounds like that definitely didn't happen if he followed it up by challenging McNabb and everyone else.

Just heard John Clayton on ESPN say that although most teams would pass on him next year, one team that would have quite a bit of interest was Denver. :shake:

If he thinks McNabb is a sub par QB, what'll he think of Plummer(who is admittedly playing well this year)?

I'd love to see TO in Denver.

Owens is a Hell of an Athlete, too bad his mouth is more productive than even his on the field stats.

Somebody will take him and pay him the money he wants...That is the way it is when somebody is that good on the field. Anybody willing to take him and pay him would be very wise to put it in his contract that in addition to skydiving, motorcycle riding and flying planes being off limits they need to write in public speaking, press conferences, and interviews also. I would go so far as to have his signing bonus held in a trust and completely revocable in full if he violated the public speaking, press conference and interview clause even in the slightest. Under those circumstances I would take him.

There is no way in hell TO would sign a contract like that, nor would I. I understand what you are saying, but the bonus totally revocable at the team's discretion? I think not...

He'd fit in well on the Raiders,
Can you imagine the ego implosion that would take place if Owens and Moss played on the same team? The whole city of Oakland would be sucked into the whole where the stadium once stood.... maybe this isn't a bad idea.....

It would only be revocable upon violating the terms not at the teams discreation. Normally TO nor anyone else would sign a deal like that but TO has blackballed himself to the level he can't get the monster money that he wants and his talent level would bring in a normal fashion. If he wants a normal contract he will have to take below market value money which he has already shown he won't willing do...To get market value money he will have to make consessions in the language and behavior category.

Yes, but how do you put the "terms" into a contract? Who is to say what is over the line...what is constructive critisism...what was misquoted or taken out of context? Can't do it.

You take any and all subjective opinion as to what is over the line but eliminating absolutely all interviews and speaking to the media. Only issue would be whether the NFL and the Players Ass would allow such a contract.

Owens/Douglas fistfight contributes to suspension. I hope the suspend him for the season.

I think his comments got taken out of context and blown out of proportion. Yeah he complained outright about not being honored with hsi 100th TD catch but the stuff about McNabb was taken out of context. He was asked about something Michael Irvin said. The previous week Irvin had said that with McNabb being injured and with people getting down on Favre that Favre was still good enough that if he were QB of the Eagles they would be undefeated. The interviewer asked Owens what he thought about that comment which nobody covering the story mentions. All he really said is that he agreed with Irvin. I don't see what's so bad about that.

Having said that, I think his suspension/deactivation is funny as hell and hope he gets blackballed by the league.

Actually that would mean they would have to let someone go like a "Porter" which wouldn't be all that bad.
