What exactly did Athan predict?

Eleazar

He had to have been the source of the Jack Harry rumor. Given their relationship, it makes perfect sense.

Priest done for season, looking for injury settlement.

Priest done for season, looking for injury settlement.

So what was he wrong about? Where did Harry come up with the retirement angle?

I don't understand the injury settlement angle. If he just retired, he wouldn't be paid, right? So what leverage would he have in a hypothetical negotiation?

Just trying to catch up :hmmm:

Phobia

"Wrong again" is sarcasm.

If a player is injured playing football and can't finish their contract they're generally entitled a settlement especially when there is language in their contract regarding the refund of signing bonus.

"Wrong again" is sarcasm.

So you're making a sarcastic comment about the frequency of Athan's incorrect information?

That would make more sense if Athan was actually right more often than wrong.

I'm saying that Athan's credibility has improved. Clearly he has sources. He "scooped" the Priest story by an entire weekend but refused to take it public until the story solidified. He's tired of stories he breaks falling through, I suppose.

He's made a hell of a bad first impression, and I'm sure I'm not the only one around here that will require some convincing.

Wow! If that's true, this is going to be the most interesting offseason since 1989. Will CP stay on or does he retire (he's 65, even though he signed a contract extension)? If he does stay, I just can't see him hiring an "outsider". I fully expect him to hire someone who he has worked with before (Edwards, Capers, etc.), but I hope I'm dead wrong. CP seems a little to old to be arguing with someone he doesn't know, so I'm not sure how well this bodes for the future.

I would really hate to see the Chiefs go back to the "Play not to lose" philosophy of the Marty clones.

Dick has been lying through his teeth about this situation. Before the Raider game, he was saying he expected him to play. I think he knew that the situation was serious even then.

If Holmes is pissed about the media rumors, he can thank the Chiefs front office for blowing smoke up our asses for the last week and a half, leaving us nothing but our imaginations.

No. Carl is here until he wants to leave. Clark has assumed almost all operational control from Lamar and will keep CP on indefinitely.

If you can't see the progress we're making on defense you're blind.

Gunther needs to be retained. No continuity has killed the defense for years.

Eleazar
11-09-2005, 09:35 PM
I don't really see Gunther as having had all that much success.

Against the run, #19 in yards per carry
Against the pass, #31 in yards per game, #25 in YPA, #26 in opponent QB rating (92.4)

I would imagine that a new head coach would want to bring in his own.

I see the progress, but I think it has to do more with the players working together for half a season and getting more familiar with each other than any thing Gun has done.

I give Gun credit for Kawika's progress, but that's it.

Actually "no talent" has killed this defense for years and I wouldn't mind seeing Gunther hit the road. His blitzes are easier to spot than Pamela Anderson in a room full of nuns.

Hey Phob,

You'll have to keep us posted as to whether or not Carl will go outside his "Circle of Trust". I'm betting that the next head coach will have worked for or with Peterson in the past. Either that or he goes out on a limb and hires a UCLA guy - Nueheisel or even Karl Dorrell.

It's going to be a very interesting offseason.

Yeah, but the Panthers D was built in a season.

Mike Fox and Mike Trgovic had that defense playing at a high level at the start of their 2nd season there.

Gun is in the middle of his 2nd season, and we are only hoping that the progress we think we see isn't just a mirage.

Fact is, Gun wasn't great before.

Even with outstanding talent, his defenses were consistently inconsistent from season to season.

How do you explain what Ron Rivera has done in two seasons in Chicago then?

He turned them around pretty damn fast. Matter of a fact it only took his first year. And he didn't have the luxury of having DC experience prior to taking his job with the Bears.

The whole Chiefs front office is FOS. 30 days to revaluate but they put Priest on IR? But they keep Sims and Barber on the active roster all year. Tell what reality that makes sense in.

They have known about this for at least week. You don't have RB's trying out for your team in the middle of the season unless you know something is up.

3 frigging trips to specialists and DV hasn't ruled him out to play this weekend? And if DV does start Priest this week its back to the 2 fer 1 series crap. What a load of shit we were being fed by DV. He friggin knew there was an issue with Priests spinal canal.
Pissing all over my boots and then telling me its raining. That ticks me off more than anything.

They frigging know Priest is done. He will never play another down of football in a Chiefs uniform. Its all about the injury settlement and posturing about money. Shame on them. Priest should not go out like this. He has earned and deserves better treatment. Let him have his money. Put him on the ring and in the Chiefs Hall of Fame. He gave us 5 great years.

He was the best running back to ever wear the Chiefs uniform. Treat him accordingly.
DV and King Carl your full of chit and I'm calling you on it.:cuss:

I see us getting a Defensive minded young guru for a coach, plus keeping Gunther. Then drafting all D in the draft. We will patch the O line in free agency and pick up a receiver.

Al Saunders will stay around as long as Trent Green is here. They won't make TG learn a new offense this late in his career.

The rest of the staff sucks and will be fired.

If true this is exactly the type of restraint a journalist should show until THEY believe their source is dead on.

And it would lead me to be more optomistic about his reporting (once he's shown the proper use of their/there/they're) in the future...
