so what's up with this clown? I'm just about tired of drafting WR's that I never see hit the field. He was a projected #1 before suffering a knee injury, but what's the deal now? Practice squad or towel boy duty for the 3rd string kicker?

Good question. If he was projected first round pick before his injury, then why doesnt he play like it now, since his injury is healed.

He's probably the next f'in Joe Horn just waiting to catch on somewhere else and go off.

haven't really heard a peep about this guy since draft day. I have no idea how he is playing now...what do you know?

Sully

He is on the practice squad. I think his being put there has more to do with Vermeil's loyalty to the guys who made the team rather than his skill. That plus he was injured for a large part of the preseason made it easy to sneak him on there without much game film to make other teams pick him up.
That's a guess.

He got in the DV doghouse early by holding out and being a few days late to training camp... WTF kind of fourth rounder holds out for their first NFL contract?!?! Anyway, after being late, being a rookie, and not having a great camp, Crap went to the PS, where he still is, I believe.

Yes he is so other NFL teams didn't want to take a flyer on him either. But...

How do we know that he's worse than Boe or Horn? The coaches thought LJ sucked. As late as last year Blaylock started the first two games that Priest was out.

I'm sure Thorpe isn't on the roster because we have stud WR's like Chris Horn......I remember everyone who loved that guy and wanted him to make the team talked about his great hands. I've seen numerous dropped balls this year.

He stills sucks compared to Priest in pass protection.

The offense is so complicated that it takes 2 years just to learn it. He might be good but I doubt we ever find out as long Al is here.

He's another victim of Vermeil's absurd loyalty to low talent/high character guys like Chris Horn.

Besides, Vermeil seems to have an aversion to letting rookies play. Especially on offense.

*as the knife slowly turns*

Actually I have a gut feeling that we will see him soon,

or maybe I am just hoping. DV does not play rookies much, I think the kid was exceptional IIRC in the Exhibition opportunities.

God forbid a rookie WR -- drafted in the fourth round because he hadn't yet fully recovered from a serious injury -- doesn't make an immediate impact in the NFL.

Are they growing retards on logs like mushrooms now, or something?

I have been worried about someone plucking him from our practice squad.

Am I the only one who noticed that a lot of the Patriots' success stemmed from the fact that they weren't afraid to plug rookies into the lineup. They didn't sign some washed up never was off the street just because he's a great white dope, they actually plugged the most talented player in the position. Meanwhile, rookie haters like Marty and Vermeil continue to flounder.

Well you have to draft well for that strategy to work. So I'm not sure if plugging rookies in here would be a great idea given the history of drafting.....

That's true to an extent...but I think it would have been nice to give Larry some run in the blowouts during the first half of '03 instead of sitting him b/c of a pissing match Vermeil lost. And it would have been nice to plug a guy like Sapp in instead of the hopeless Bill Bartee. And as bad as our WR are, why not just activate Cro and have him run a couple of square-ins and go's and not have him worry about hot reads, leave that to Horn and EK.

You won't get much arguement from me on those situations. Not willing to go with young players is what got Jerome Woods, Greg Wesley, John Browning, William Bartee and Eric Hicks all resigned a year ago. That looks like a giant waste of money right now.........

Immediate impact? It's week freakin 10. He was a fourth round pick due to injury but was said to have first round potential. If he sucks, that's one thing, but that's something that should have been found out prior to him being drafted.

I don't think anyone can pick him up. The hard part is getting them to the practice squad without being picked up. But at least thast what I remember but not for sure on this.

I thought if they offered a Practice Squad player a spot on their 53 man roster they could claim him but I could be wrong.

If a request for a PS player comes from another team....my understanding is, the Chiefs get a choice: sign him to their 53-man, or let him go.

Maybe when teams like the Patriots give these guys a chance to succeed they gain confidence. Maybe that leads to the old "If you think you can or you think you can't, you're right." Honestly there is not that much talent difference between various players in this league. You have a few uber talents like Harrison or TO but look at the other receivers for the Colts. Stokley and Wayne are not any more talented then the receivers we have IMO. But they are able to have success. Is this because of confidence or simply because the Peyton is throwing the ball?

He's awesome on Madden '06... of course I am the greatest Quarterback of all time...

but he made rookie of the year and the pro bowl his first season on my 05 franchise season.

Of course, I had 4 offensive lineman, Trent Green, Dante Hall, Priest Holmes, and a good 4 or 5 defensive folk in the Pro Bowl...

I play on All-Pro though... Madden level just isn't as fun. I get too pissed when I throw a pick.

Dude do you realize that a video game is not reality? And being an all-pro in a video game doesn't mean squat?
