ASTANA (Reuters) - Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry threatened legal action on Monday against comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, who wins laughs by portraying the central Asian state as a country populated by drunks who enjoy cow-punching as a sport.

Baron Cohen, who portrays a spoof Kazakh television presenter Borat in his "Da Ali G Show", has won fame ridiculing Kazakhstan, the world's ninth largest country yet still little known to many in the West.

Baron Cohen appears to have drawn official Kazakh ire after he hosted the annual MTV Europe Music Awards show in Lisbon earlier this month as Borat, who arrived in an Air Kazakh propeller plane controlled by a one-eyed pilot clutching a vodka bottle.

"We do not rule out that Mr. Cohen is serving someone's political order designed to present Kazakhstan and its people in a derogatory way," Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesman Yerzhan Ashykbayev told a news briefing.

"We reserve the right to any legal action to prevent new pranks of the kind." He declined to elaborate.

Cohen's earlier jokes about the Central Asian state include claims that the people would shoot a dog and then have a party, and that local wine was made from fermented horse urine.

"We view Mr. Cohen's behaviour at the MTV Europe Music Awards as utterly unacceptable, being a concoction of bad taste and ill manners which is completely incompatible with ethics and civilised behaviour," Ashykbayev said.

Did you ever see the episode where hwe went to a rodeo and sat next to an older couple and showed them pictures of his 'wife'?
The first couple were normal pictures; the next showed an over-weight woman buck naked giving a beaver shot.
The old man almost choked, the woman couldn't believe it.
God that guy is funny.

The one time I've seen this character he was posing as a Kazakh folk singer at some country western bar in Wyoming or somewhere. He was singing all these upbeat, silly songs that had really anti-semitic lyrics like "Throw the jews on the fire." All the audience was hooting and hollering and clapping along. It was pretty funny.

That was me. You can also see that speech on film on the Bonus part of Season 2 DVD's.

Ali G is one of the funniest shows I've ever seen. I laugh every time I watch it, every episode is funny as hell.

And Newchief, in that episode he was playing his normal role as a host to some Khazak news show and he was singing "Throw the jew down the well"... good shit.

"I need woman that can pull plow."

- You see in the United States women don't have any plow experience, zero.

- Yes, but not very much, maybe one or two years...

By the way...I think Ali G is a modern day Andy Kaufman. He makes people uncomfortable with his type of humor, and keeps a straight face while doing it. He also makes you believe he is really that character.

He never f*cking breaks it too. Some of the behind the scenes shots are pretty f*cking hilarious. The whole process, writing and improvising, is pure f*cking genius.

Verse
In my country there is problem
And that problem is transport
It take very very long
Because Kazakhstan is big

Chorus 1
Throw transport down the well (repeat line)
So my country can be free (repeat line)
We must make travel easy (repeat line)
Then we have a big party (repeat line)

Verse 2
In my country there is problem
And that problem is the Jew
They take everybody money
And they never give it back

Chorus 2
Throw the jew down the well (repeat line)
So my country can be free (repeat line)
You must grab him by his horns (repeat line)
Then we have a big party (repeat line)

Verse 3
If you see the Jew coming
You must be carefull of his teeth
You must grab him by his money
And I tell you what to do

(Repeat Chorus 2 twice)

"I do a picture, only small, of the Tishnik Massacre. Where many Uzbeks... crushed!"
"How did you feel when you drew this?"
"Very proud!"
"I am just listening with sadness for your people."
"No, it is not sad. It is us that do the kill!"

And how could people neglect poor Bruno?

Bruno: Okay, everybody. I'll do the intro, and then I'll raise my arm and all of you will yell.
Bruno: HALLO, I am in Daytona Beach, where all of the good-looking guys come to be GAY!
[chubby dude to Bruno's right immediately turns face away from the camera; smattering of yells/bemused muttering ensues for a couple of seconds; crowd begins to disperse]
Confused Guy: You mean 'gay' like 'happy,' right?
Bruno: No, no. Gay sex.

"Can me have a go on... de ladder?"
"'EARMENOW, 'EARMENOW! FREE NELSON MANDELA! FREE NELSON MANDELA!"

The abortion rap, the "Sometimes, I wish I was a moron; do you believe in mahogany?" lines, the bit about not selling high because he once sold his car to his mate Dave for, "like, 20 Chicken McNuggets," Borat's job interviews*, Bruno with the college wrestlers, and best of all, Andy Rooney the racialist.

*"If you give me this job, can I put a camera in the lady toilet please?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"It, it, that, uh, is against the law."
"If I work here, can I work in a room with a light, please?"
"Yes. Everybody will have a light."
"GREAT, SUCCESS!"

I saw part of the MTV gig...he announced Cold Play as "Green Day"...which I thought was unscripted and hilarious.

He also came out in a unitard and said something like "I'm like Freddie Mercury, no? [thumbs up]...except no aids"

they bleeped it...but he went on about how in Kahzakawhatever they have sexual diseases but they don't die of aids....anyways, it was odd and uncomfortable and funny...he always has that smile on his face...
