View Full Version : I'm calling out myself ...

FAX

That's right. It's time I faced the ugly truth.

I'm disgusted that, for over 25 years, I've supported a team that can't win a playoff game, let alone make it to the SB.

And, I'm utterly embarrassed that I actually read Mr. Iowanian's posts about how he climbed a tree and that I hardly ever participate in Mr. RainMan's polls about who prefers green beans over ford transmissions.

And, what's with the limerics? What kind of self-respecting person would write poems pointing out the extraordinary and remarkably diminutive nature of Taco John's sex organ? Or, post thanksgiving stories featuring villians named "Stuffing Monster" and "Sweet Potato Pie"?

I've finally had it and resign to either modify my BB behaviour or ban myself from the Planet for good.

I, for one, feel you owe us Planeteers an apology for packing up your limericks and stomping off the Planet that day. We organized a search party and looked for you for weeks. Next time we'll leave you lying all bloody in a ditch somewhere.

It's highly unfortunate that FAX couldn't have arrived at the Planet Aug 2000 because I'm pretty sure the last option of every poll would be the FAX option instead of GAZ. You are both a couple of highly unique individuals. I mean that in the nicest sense. Maybe not the nicest, nicest - but I'm not trying to be a big meany.

What was the reason behind Skip's '100 post thread' rant, anyway? IIRC, he was quite vociferous about it.

Wow. Thanks, Mr. Bob Dole. May the Muse of Mighty Firm Tittaws grace the bosom of your significant other.

As for Mr. Skip Towne's interest in 100 post threads, I really have no idea, Mr. Donger. All I know is that he said I would never overtake him in this accomplishment. I can't say that I disagree with him as I have started many of the lamest, most ignorant, meritless threads of all times. Still, no one thought George Foreman would go down in Zaire, no one thought Ross Perot would get 18% of the popular vote, and certainly no one thought Hubert Humphrey would have sired 7 children out of wedlock (I mean, he was an ugly little spud).

So, we persevere. We struggle. We fight the good fight with our eyes on the horizon and our ears cocked in the event the police come to the door. Because, we know deep in our hearts that nothing is impossible and with God and the American people on our side, win or lose, somebody's going to come out of this with a lot of posts.

A question for you, Skip: do you really care or are you just being silly about this?

Actually, it has kind of evolved from the post count. Everyone has always assumed that a superior post count equalled superior status on the board. Yet any idiot can put up a lot of posts. The last time I counted we had 75 posters with more than 10,000 posts. I'm sure that number has increased since then. But creating popular threads, which drive a bulletin board, is much harder to do. When I got on this board, more than 5 years ago, a thread had to stay on the front page for 3 days on average to reach the 100 post milestone. It is easier to do today with all the new members (n00bs). And I have found that the folks that worry most about 100 post threads are those that have the least of them. Just yesterday I had to point that out in a thread that included worriers JSP and Zach. Well, JSP has 7 and Zach has 17. Compared to my 75. I'm going to go check yours and I'll bet you are waaay down the list as well. I'll get back to you on this after I count yours.

Oh, yes I do understand. It is like when you were 10 and getting your ass kicked in a bicycle race. You then say " Oh, I wasn't racing" So you didn't win. If you don't compete in such insignificant contests, why are we even talking about this? Have you ever heard of "losers limp" well, buddy you have it. As insignifigant and pathetic as it is, you are pathetically trying to wimp out of it as is obvious to everybody but you. Whether you "consider such an event worthwhile" or not just shows how shallow you are. You're a little pissant that I have stayed off of but it looks like it's time to f*ck with you. BTW your'e trophy wife is about a 6 to me. You should bring her to a Planet get together at a game and you'll find yourself in about 7th place if that. Phobia and Stevieray have truly "trophy wives" that put yours to shame.

I have never planted this ass at Arrowhead. We moved away from Kansas City in 1969. I have been a sucker from afar from all these years. I hope, someday, to be a sucker live and in person. I long to pay for the overpriced ticket, beer, concessions and parking just like the rest of you. In the meantime, color me Jets green with envy. I need to get there before I die.

I did get to see Joe Willie play against the Colts, 1970 I think. The Colts won and I joined in with other fans throwing aluminum foil balls from the hot dogs at a loud and obnoxious Jets fan. Good times.

Get there early and stay late, but get there, the place is a hoot. That's easy for me to say though, I'm 6-0 at Arrowhead so I have always left with a good attitude.

The game tickets aren't the big problem. I live in Virginia, that's a two day drive. I'll try to exercise my positive mojo more next year, then again we've been saying "maybe next year" for a long damn time.
