Are they real people who look like cartoons?

Real cartoons who look like people?

Somebody whomped up some powerful magic to make those things.

It's called rotoscoping. Pretty much like line drawing over real actors. These days, I'm sure their computers do it.

I was left cold with the content, as well.

The rotoscoping/overlay thing looks like 2 tons of fun.

Too bad I'm only packin' a 1/4 oz.

Those commercials are really annoying.

It's like creating a newspaper ad on your computer, but before you're done you run it through a crappy cheap photoshop filter.

At the risk of annoying the annoyed.

At the risk of annoying real photoshoppers everywhere.

I would really like to know how to do that with still images. I would like to use it for band photo related stuff.

Humbly,

There are a bunch of photoshop filter effects you can screw with:

It's just a vector graphic. You can trace photos in Illustrator to make vector versions of them using the Live Trace features. Lots of different options. You can make em look very "drawn" like the commercials or make em good enough you can barely tell they're not raster art anymore.

I'll post a few examples here in a minute...

#1 uses the low fidelity setting and #2 uses the high fidelity setting. There are lots more to choose from.

That's what I'm talkin' about, DRU.

Is there a particular version of Illustrator that does this best?

What does that chic look like playing a cherry red Gibson 345?

Yeah I thought that might be an ok pic to use based on the sigs and avatars I've seen around here.

And if they don't wear clothes, what's inside those suitcases?
