As one of the oldest members of the Planet, I remember my high school class using words the young folks probably think they invented. "Cool" comes to mind. We were using that in 1961 and only god knows how long before that it was cool to use. Any others?

The word "douchebag" didn't strike me until the 90s. I found out the hard way that it was, in fact, an 80s word.

I'll bet you also used words like "swell" and "dandy," didn't you, Skip?

Claynus

I guess it's possible they changed the spelling since 1961.

No one uses "rad," "tubular," or "neato" anymore.

In Scotland, people used to describe things as "ace" quite a bit.

I feel old when I hear people refer to things as "tight".

Is it possible I made a mistake? Horrors. It is nice to see that so many watch my grammar. And how few mistakes they find.

Actually, we made fun of people who used the word swell.

I agree. It's a damn rare occurrence. (I'll bet I spelled occurrence right but go ahead and look it up)

Hey, I'd like to stay and argue with any idiot that stumbles into this thread but I'm tired and want to go to bed. You have to remember, I'm old.

So...who are the young folks that think they came up with the word cool??

A lot of kids say, "sweet" more than we did when I was younger (not that I'm all that old because I use 'sweet' too).

I don't know if it's just the area I live in because I don't hear this on TV/movies but a lot of people (including myself) say "fantasic" a lot with accent on the first syllable.

Someone: How are you doing today?
Me: FAN-tastic
Someone else: How are those Fritos brand corn chips?
Me: FAN-****in-tastic

Speak for yourself. I use it all the time, and it's now up to 48 Google hits. That's pretty groovy, if you ask me.

It doesn't count when all 48 are on Chiefsplanet.com.

Now that I'm on the lam, I bail out of any large happening. I'm a one way guy but I won't play the stooge so some flatfoot can make a case on me. I just play it cool if the fuzz spots me so all they can bust me for is mopery anyhow.

Seems like "Bananas" is trying to make a comeback. I'm having fun with it because it pisses of the fiance something fierce when I use it.

Cool Beans!

When I joined the Navy, I used this extensively annoying one of my friends who thought I just made it up. Then he came to visit after we both got out and half my high school buddies used it in one night. His frustration with me was priceless.
